We were never worried about day/night confusion and my LO was a horrible napper starting at 2-3 weeks! No newborn sleepiness for us! So we pulled out all the stops for naps and he was double-swaddled until 5 months (we stopped swaddling for nights at 4 months).

I double swaddled because she always managed to kick off the miracle blanket, so i swaddled her arms using the miracle blanket (with one arm out for soothing), and then swaddled the A+A blanket over so that her legs were covered, but moved much more freely than in a regular swaddle.

I don't think swaddle/no-swaddle would signal to the baby that it is naptime/bedtime, but do whatever works for you! At the early stages, i was happy she would sleep for long stretches, regardless of whether it was day or night. We swaddled her for all naps/bedtime until she started rolling over from back to front.

We swaddled for naps and nighttime until C was 6 months old. You may try looking at the double swaddle and only using the first blanket. It swaddles their arms very securely but leaves their legs free. That's how we swaddled C all summer.

I swaddled LO in a A&A blanket for naps and then in a miracle blanket for night-time. No clue if he ever really knew the difference but he wouldn't nap for more than 15 minutes if I didn't swaddle him.

I used to swaddle LO for naps, but not anymore. She's 3.5 months so I want her to start getting used to sleeping undead sled because she's close to rolling over.

I try to swaddle for naps, but LO usually ends up napping in his stroller, the moby, or his swing. I say if you CAN swaddle for naps then I would go for it--that way the swaddle gets associated with sleep in general.

we did it the opposite way, where we swaddle for naps, but not for nighttime. i think whatever works for you and baby is the way to go! :)

I've managed to get baby A to sleep in her moses basket instead of on me for the last four nights, yeah!!! Touch wood and all that! The key, it seems, was swaddling her arms (we can't swaddle her legs because she has suspected hip dysplasia and needs to be able to move them freely).

But now she hates going down in it for naps so we spend all day holding her. We can't wear her in a sling because of the hip dysplasia issue.

Do you guys swaddle babies for naps too? Or should it just be kept to a night time thing so she knows night is for sleeping a loooong time?
