Yes to lovey! LO used it the same way in the beginning--he would rub it all over his face, but since it was soft it didn't wake him up as much as his hands. Now he rubs it in his face to go to sleep. We have an angel dear dog lovey and he is obsessed.

I would only swaddle for the moro reflexes, but if he's just moving his hands, I wouldn't swaddle....but I might be tempted to try a sleepsack and a lovey.

Magic sleep suit! My LO does this exactly and we just switched her to the sleep suit a week or so ago. She is sleeping better than she was in the swaddle.

I've also heard a lovey can work like PP said, to give them something to do with their hands. We have an angel dear but she isn't too interested in it for sleep yet.

If he's a good roller I wouldn't re-swaddle him. Around 4.5 months is when we introduced an A+A security blanket and DS learned to not wake himself up! :)

I swaddle weaned DS for a brief period of time and it was fine. Now (at 4 months) he has a keener awareness of what he can do with his hands. The second I put him down he rubs all over his face and eyes with his hands and wakes himself up screaming. He rolls well enough now that I'm not comfortable swaddling again.
HALLP!
