Thanks guys. I ordered a woombie and use that over the miracle blanket. If I just use a woombie she wakes herself up with her hands. I ordered the swaddle strap by anna and eve but my daughter doesn't seem to like it - maybe because of the pads on the sides? I tried not swaddling once, but I she woke herself up before I even got her in the crib, even though I tried to hold her hands down when she started lifting them up. It was a catastrophe. I can get her to sleep without swaddling when we're out and I have to in the parked car, but she usually stays in my lap for quite a while before I try to put her in the car seat, IF I attempt that. And her naps are shorter that way. Anyway, just thought I'd update and say I'm still swaddling. I've got enough sleep problems to try to wean her right now  Thanks so much again for your help.

@lawbee11: LO would occasionally get his arm out as well... but the reason I liked the strap so much was that it was easy to get it back in quickly. Good luck if y'all try to wean...... I'm cringing just thinking about it. It was traumatic for us.... so I'll be sending some positive thoughts your way! :)

@coastmama: We have a swaddle strap, too! It's awesome. Though the past couple of nights LO has busted one arm out of it. I have no idea how--that thing is like a straight jacket. So I think we're going to have to swaddle wean soon.

@coastmama: yes we have one of these too! Can't believe I forgot mention it! Especially good when we go out in the pram and it's too hot for a swaddle - we just use the strap! :-)

The Swaddle Strap by Anna and Eve was a lifesaver for us. There is a video on their website that sold me. We swaddled until 5 months, which is when LO started rolling over while swaddled in the crib. We went cold turkey and it was a miserable month until we finally "sleep trained." I could write a small dissertation on that situation, but I'll refrain. But we loved the swaddle strap.

The Miracle Blanket was the only thing she couldn't break out of from 2 weeks-3 months. For the last month or so we used the Woombie... Until she could break out of it.

Another vote for woombies! :-) Freaking best thing ever. We also love the miracle blanket.. we use that with the woombie over the top... stops over little escape artist ;-)

The woombies are our favourite. We've used a lot of them, but the woombies win. They are easy for middle of the night diaper changes, they cannot be broken out of like many of the other swaddles. They have lots of room to move around but are still very cozy. We even had one where the arms opened up so you could wean.

We ended up sleep training. I had done a week of him with one arm free and then when we started training I forgot to put the swaddle on the first night and he's been swaddleless since! I did start to swaddle from the armpits down but after that first night of training he hasn't had his arms swaddled since.

Now he just sleeps in a halo sleep sack.

Woombies are seriously life savers.

Um, I think we used every single brand on the market. Started with A&A blankets, until she broke out of them. Then used the swaddle me Velcro ones for a long time, until she started fighting them and getting her arms out in weird positions. We tried the miracle blanket but I never felt like it was comfortable for her or I was doing it wrong. The woombie worked for a bit- nice that she could move her arms and get her fist to her mouth through the fabric. Finally we just, at a little over 3 months, started using the halo sleep sack with the swaddle arms around her chest/tummy. She soothes herself with her hands so it's working for us for now.

Oh and we used the Merlin's magic sleep suit for a while too. Can you tell we have a problem sleeper??

Since your LO is going to be rolling pretty soon, it seems like the halo sleep sacks with the arms that can swaddle arms in or out would be the way to go?

Our favorite was the Halo sleep sack, specifically one bought from the Pottery Barn kids website.

http://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/chamois-dot-and-stripe-sleep-sack-swaddle/?cm_src=AutoCSLPIP

It was a bit pricier than our other Halo sacks but the quality was noticeably higher and it really kept LO tightly wrapped!

We use the A+A blankets (the bigger ones) and if E breaks out, then we just leave him. For some reason, we never got in the habit of re-swaddling. That being said, I'm curious about getting rid of it, because we're transitioning him from the co-sleeper to a crib soon. (I don't want to swaddle, because he'll have more room to roll over.)

We started out using receiving blankets then quickly discovered the big Aden + Anais muslin blankets. Eventually LO could work his way out of those and we started using the Miracle blanket exclusively. Then he could bust out of the miracle blanket so we used a swaddleme brand that has velcro.

We stopped because LO was too strong and it became too much of a pain to wrestle him into the swaddle at bedtime and to re-do it multiple times a night! That probably happened around the 4 month mark.

We started with A+A swaddle blankets but she was able to break out pretty quickly. We loved Miracle Blanket and had maybe 4 we used for months. Once she started rolling we switched to Halo and we swaddled around her chest/stomach with arms out.

What's your favorite swaddling blanket? Why?
When/ why/ how did you stop swaddling, if you have?
I have a 3 month old and have used a miracle blanket (wakes her up when I swaddle her, a bit tricky, but pretty great) and halo sleep sack (easy to use but I have to stretch the arms so tight to make sure she doesn't break out that I've stretched it a bit too much). I'm looking to buy another one, maybe a halo or maybe another brand. Thanks!
