We used an A+A blanket for swaddling until DS was 4.5 months old. I would fold a receiving blanket twice (so you have a long rectangle) and lay it inside the A+A blanket. The receiving blanket was used to secure DS's arms (like the miracle blanket). I really liked the russian swaddle technique. LO's arms were always secured but he had plenty of room to stretch his legs. Here's the video I watched for the russian swaddle:

I love the swaddle mes. We used the HBoB swaddle method with and a blankets and then doubled up on it.

I use the miracle blanket at night. For day I use the woombie or A & A. I like woombie but my DH is convinced she hates them. Miracle blanket seems to work best for my little Houdini.

We used A&A muslin blankets at first, then added the SwaddleMe for warmth and also cause she always found a way to get one arm out. When she got big enough for the Miracle blanket, that was it. We were MB junkies and its the only thing that worked, but it did take a couple days for her to get used to it. Around 4.5 months when she started showing signed of wanting to roll over I weaned her off swaddling using the Zipadee-Zip (which is the MOST amazing product ever!!!). DD still uses the zippy's and will be for a whole. I love that it's not too thick and it gives her a secure feeling. She knows its nap/bed time with the zippy comes out, so it's also her sleep cue.

Another vote for double swaddle. That's what we did.

Miracle Blanket and Woombie were the best for us. They were the only ones LO couldn't break out of... Until she could. We'll use the same with the next LOs.

We double swaddle with two a&a blankets for naps and do a swaddle me with an a&a blanket on top for night. You can try an a&a blanket under a larger swaddle me, that would probably be tough to get out of.

I have found Halo sacks work the best for us, just because DD can't have her arms down. She hated the Wombie, way too constricting for her. If you try it, I would go up from the newborn, DD was 9 lbs when born and the nebworn seemed tight on her.

We've been using the Woombie since she was a day old. We now use the convertible Woombie with her arms out at 5 months old. We've loved it!

We had to double swaddle or my son could break out of anything. He even broke out of that occasionally.

How about a size medium swaddle me? Or a double swaddle.

We have been using A&A blankets for napping during the day and Halo sleepsack swaddles at night. DD is getting to the point that she can easily break out of the A&A's and I'm getting annoyed with the Halos at night. I find them to be a pain when left on for nursing, but it's also a hassle to take off and on in the middle of the night.

We also have a few SwaddleMe sacks but I think she is between sizes, too big for the smalls and too small for the larges. She also always seems to get her arms out of these.

I did buy a Miracle Blanket and we tried it one night. She had a royal fit and after a couple hours of trying to get her to sleep (and her spitting up all over it because she was so worked up), we moved back to the Halo I think it was that her arms were so confined. I suppose I need to give this another chance though before I add this to my reject pile.

I haven't tried the Woombie yet, but was thinking about ordering one to try out. DD is a little over 10 lbs, so perhaps she could still get a bit of use out of the newborn size.

What worked best for you in the first few months?
