Thanks for the recommendations! I think we'll have to get some sleep sacks, based on the input here and elsewhere. My little guy is 3.5 months and still happy in his swaddle, but I want to be prepared.

At 3 months she went cold turkey at daycare and at 3.5 months she went cold turket at home... well, sort of cold turkey... at home she switched to a roomy sleep sack. It took her a little longer to fall asleep the first night or two, but other than that, she was fine.

We slowly weaned around 3.5 months when he started rolling. We started with one arm out and alternated arms each night. We fully weaned around 4 months. It was tough at first since he really liked to be swaddled, but he loves it now.

We did around 5 months. We had been using the Miracle Blanket from about 6 weeks - 4 months. At 4 months we started using at Woombie to help transition. Then around 5 months we started putting LO down in a sleep sack.
For the first week or so she would wake up (she had been STTN), and I would put her back in the Woombie (I was selfish and wanted my sleep). By the 2nd week she was back to STTN in the sleep sack.
This approach worked well for us! And luckily, about 2 weeks after the transition, she started rolling over at night - perfect timing!

I weaned LO at 2ish months. Use a Halo sleepsack swaddle and did it gradually. So start in the full swaddle, then do one arm out, then both arms out (but with the swaddle wrapped around the chest). Then loosen the swaddle wrap. Eventually, we'll get a regular sleep sack.

If your LO is used to having their legs swaddled, you may have to spend a little time in the full swaddle but with legs loose (they are in the Halo). We did, bc LO loved to kick his legs in his sleep and it would wake him up at first.

5 months cold turkey when he was consistently rolling onto his tummy to sleep. It only took him one night to get used to it.

At 5 months, cold turkey. We actually did it about three hours after LO went to bed, because he woke up screaming and would NOT go back to sleep. So we took him out of the swaddle, popped him in the sleep sack, and never looked back.

ETA he wasn't screaming because of the swaddle (I don't think), and changing to a sleep sack didn't magically improve his sleep either, unfortunately! It just took time.

I'm curious about this too. With DS, he never liked being swaddled so we just didn't swaddle. He kept breaking free of the swaddle even in the hospital so we never bothered. Little miss likes the swaddle at night though and at two months, wondering when and how would be a good time to wean her.

LMW's sleep at 4-5 months was so bad, we figured we'd go ahead and swaddle wean at that point. It was rough for quite a while, but I don't think any rougher than it already was.
