@Thehistoryofus: I agree that Halo swaddles rule!!!! I have others (several) and none come close to the fit and function of Halo. I prefer the fleece to the cotton though and am glad to see the return of cold weather so we can use fleece again. Now LO is old enough to be arms-out and I still love them with the 'arms out' swaddling.

Glad to read this old post. I bought 3 Halo Swaddle Sacks and 1 Summer SwaddleMe sack at TJMaxx. I will be going to return the Summer SwaddleMe after reading this post and subsequent comments. No point in wasting time or money... especially thanks to the point on the middle piece (which is certainly the most important part).

I used A+A but to be honest, I have the BEST luck with The Woombie (www.woombie.com) Its not a blanket, its a sleep sack, but snug so they feel like theyre in the womb. Liv is almost 4 months old and she loves that thing so we still swaddle her. You dont need to stop until they roll over from back to stomach

We used both the A+A blankets and the miracle blanket for swaddling at night. The Halo swaddles weren't enough to keep my son's hands down. We stopped swaddling at 6 months and just went with a regular Halo sleep sack and have been very happy since.

The only thing I can say with any certainty is that sizing is vastly different across brands. The best piece of baby equipment is my measuring tape. I break it out to get an idea of the sizes of things regularly. My almost 11 month old wears sizes all over the spectrum. In Halo, we have to put him in the size large, which according to the tag is for 12-18 months/22-28 pounds.

I also tried all three, loved the a+a, but she really stopped liking to be swaddled around 2 months. I agree with the summer swaddles. Ugh, I hated it so much. I felt a little better since I got it on sale. Would never recommend it to anyone!

We had the same issue with the summer swaddledme. The small was way too small, they would always be off of her by morning so we got large and it was huge. There is no between size. One night we went to check on her and the blanket was over her mouth and nose, scared us to death! So I emailed the company and they offered to replace my swaddle. Ummmm....I don't want anything to do with your swaddle blanket!

We ended up stopping swaddling than anyway, she learned to find her thumb and has been sleeping through the night since!

Oh yeah, I was so worried I would never be able to get her out of that thing! She was definitely not ready at 3 months!

Glad to hear you swaddled until 4 or 5 months. So many people have been telling me that I should stop at 3 months but I really just don't think she is ready. She sleeps terribly when she isn't swaddled!

I tried all of these and hands down Halo wins. My daughter still sleeps in her Halo sleep sack at 18 months. We stopped swaddling around 4 or 5 months so we switched to sleep sacks. Hope it works for you!

I just wanted to share my experience with swaddles (hoping to do a blog post on this soon).

We have been using the Aden and Anais muslin blankets (the smaller ones from Target) since LO was born. She sleeps so much better at night all tucked it and can't get her hands up by her face to wake her up. We loved the muslin because we didn't have to worry about her over heating.

Now at 3 months with her going to day care, she cannot use the A+A because its a blanket and they can't have blankets in the cribs. So I started the search for a new swaddle that wasn't a blanket.

First we tried the Summer SwaddleMe. We purchased the large that is supposed to be good for 14-22 pounds. That is a joke. LO is just over 15 pounds and probably about 25" and she doesn't fit AT ALL. Not only is she way to long for it and the middle piece doesn't come up high enough on her belly, there needs to be a few extra inches of fabric before it could close around her and have the velcro in the appropriate places. So, after that waste of $20, we continued looking.

Next up was the Halo Swaddle Sacks. I was nervous to try because they only come in Newborn and Small sizes, but the small said it goes from 13-18 pounds. Immediately after looking at the product I could tell the sizing was MUCH more accurate. There was plenty of room in the feet (baggy like a normal sleep sack) and the "wings" could be velcro'ed in any spot on the sides. She is sleeping in this one tonight so I'm hoping it works! We got the cotton version (it also comes in a fleece) and its a bit thicker than the muslin but winter is coming up so it shouldn't be too bad.

Does anyone else have similar experiences with these or other swaddles?
