We loved the halo sleep sack swaddle and used it forever. I also had the miracle blanket and AA cloths, but the halo worked better for us - especially after the first 1-2 months.

Our almost two year old sleeps in a halo early walker sleep sack to this day.

@Mrs. Pinata: I second the Woombie. I used both the regular one and then got the convertible one when I needed to transition LO out of it. It was awesome for what you mentioned: we left one arm out for while, then both, then stopped using it altogether. The neck can be a little tight, though, so I cut off the little tab for the button and that made it less snug.

What?! Am I the first to recommend woombie? They are amazing, no Velcro to deal with, it just zips right up to the chin and keeps hands in! They come in many sizes. Order two asap!

Oh and they do have ones with zippers on the side to let an arm free if you choose.

@Mrs. Pinata: The benefit to using the A+A and receiving blanket solution is that we can wash both blankets or just one as needed. As for the investment, my daughter is 2 and uses the A+A swaddle blankets as her crib blankets at home and she has one of the four as her school blanket for nap time. We actually bought a second set for my son so he would have his own set since his sister needs hers.

@reyorra: That looks just like the Miracle Blanket, but with separate parts! We may have to try that, but we don't have AA blankets and I'm nervous to invest in them when she's this old, but I may have to try!

And also, totally unrelated, but that's the rug we have in Little P's bedroom! :)

Both our children needed to be swaddled, but they could both break out of the standard blanket swaddle. However, once we found this video, we never needed to buy any of the special swaddling products, we just needed small receiving blankets and our Aden and Anais blankets. This technique would probably work on just one arm as well.

We swaddled both boys using Aden and Anais blankets until they were 8-ish months old! We did the weird across the torso swaddle, not the newborn one.

@Mrs. Lion: I used the Love to Dream swaddle for my DD, we used to call them "angel wings". I wish I started using them from newborn, she loved them so much. The only thing was the "wings" would get drenched in saliva as she sucked on her hands quite a bit.

My LO was a swaddle addict too and he slept well so I wasn't going to mess with a good thing. Once he started breaking out of the swaddled, we started to use both an A&A blanket and a SwaddleMe. We'd swaddle him with the A&A blanket first and then Valcro the SwaddleMe on top. Worked like a charm until he started rolling and then we moved to the Merlin and after that just a regular sleep sack.

We love the Halo Sleepsack Swaddle too! We actually left both DD's arms out of it last night. She was 25"+ at 8 weeks and it only goes up to 26". Not sure how long Little P is, but if you need longer, SwaddleMe sleep sacks are longer swaddles...though that maybe what you were using. I have not tried them.

I'll second the halo sleep sack! It's great for the transition too, as you can do one arm at a time, and then even swaddled just their chest with arms out...

I am really really loving the Love to Dream swaddle, but if the woombie is too loose that may not work. She loves sleeping with her hands over her head, so she really does well with this one. With our first we put him in a woombie-like pouch (I think they were summer infant?) and then used an AA swaddle on the outside to make him super snug. That worked really well...but that won't work with the one arm out. Our other favorite was the Halo swaddle sleep sack. Those are pretty snug, and you can do one or both arms out (or both in).

Sweet P has REALLY needed to be swaddled since the get-go. Her hands are a major distraction for her and so she still needs to be all bound up to sleep. :)

We started with the cheap ones from Target that just use velcro, but they didn't hold her in well enough, so we tried out the Miracle Blanket and it's been a great fit! Unfortunately, she is growing out of it. :crying:

Did anyone else have a baby that really needed to be swaddled for awhile for sleep and what did you use? We have a zippadeezip, but it allows for way to much movement at this point. And even the wombie lets her move too much and she doesn't sleep well.

I'd love a swaddle that will let us do one arm at a time so we can slowly transition her out of it once her sleep is much better. :)
