We swaddled until 3 months (when LO started escaping the swaddle on a regular basis). She's almost 4 months now and at bedtime, we feed her, change her diaper, put her in her crib, zip her into her sleep sack and leave the room. She's asleep in less than 5 minutes.
She doesn't really care for daytime naps, but I think that's more of a "there's too much to look at and do" problem, than anything else.

I think a lot of the older generation get frustrated when they see the newer generation do things differently than they're used to. They can't make sense of it and like to come up with all sorts of things without any basis. I've experienced this a few times. I try to ignore it and blame it on menopause. Lol.

Yeah, that's crap. We swaddled until almost 6 months and LO is a great sleeper at 14 months. Barring nights he's been OT, he has never had issues going to sleep on his own in the crib.

Nope, never heard of that. We swaddled until 4 months and DD started going to sleep by herself in the crib (drowsy but awake) around the same time.

My parents were never a big fan of the long term swaddle. She understood when she was an itty bitty newborn but by about 2 months she thought she should be out of it and definitely by 4-5 months when we stopped using it.

Now she says that she thinks part of our sleep problems now (not going to sleep on her own in the crib) stem from being swaddled. I don't think there is any scientific backing to this thought, just her thinking. Any thoughts?
