I started swelling really badly at about 27 weeks and it never stopped. I had perfect BP my whole pregnancy. Some women just retain a lot of water. It goes away pretty quickly.

I swelled immensely at the end of my pregnancy and my blood pressure was always great. I had to buy a few clothing items at the end and new shoes because I could not fit in anything I had. It was bad enough that there were weeks in the last month that I would have 10lb weight gains between appointments. It sucked. Bad. But know that I lost 30 lbs the very first week after delivery and only had a 6lb 9oz baby. There was so much fluid. And by the end of that first week, my shoes and rings fit again, and my feet stopped resembling Shrek.

@pastemoo weird story...DH and I were at bookstore standing in line when he commented to me about getting home so we could take my ring off. the girl behind us overheard and asked if it was stuck. she told me to put windex on my finger because it makes it really slippery...apparently she worked in a jewelry store and it happened a lot. tried it, and worked like a charm! just sad now because it looks like I won't be wearing a ring for about 10 more weeks :-( thanks for the great advice though!

@lydg: Wrap dental floss around your finger to compress it, and slip your ring off--otherwise they might have to cut it off!
You can put it away (like I did), or wear it around your neck. Please take it off while you still can!

I was very swollen by the end, and always had great bp. It took about 2 weeks pp for the swelling to go away. Basically sweated all out at night.

Swelling can be an indication of high BP, but without high BP, it's nothing to worry about.
My arms and hands swelling a whole lot, and my ankles swelled a little.

Once I hit 36 weeks, my feet started poofing up. I'm now 39 weeks and my ankles are non-existent! I've also developed carpal tunnel syndrome; my fingers are constantly numb and slightly swollen. However, my BP has consistently been normal and my midwife just excuses it all as common prego symptoms. It's worse because it's summer =/

I think the worst part is now my wedding ring is stuck on my finger! Not so bad it's cutting off circulation, but I need to get it off and I hate not wearing it.

I had swelling long before I developed high BP (just last week, at 34.5 weeks). Some swelling is definitely normal. I noticed a big increase in the amount of swelling, especially in my hands and face/eyes. Keep your feet up. It's amazing how much it helps.

Towards the end I did swell some, I couldn't fit into any of my nicer shoes. Like you my BP was always good. I promise it gets better after you deliver. :)

I've heard that most swelling during pregnancy is associated with high blood pressure. My BP has been consistently below normal 120/80, and my feet are like sausages!

Anyone else swell but not have high BP? Guess I'm just retaining water. :-(
