We use disposable swim diapers at the beach but only when the baby is in the water, not for long stretches. Otherwise a regular diaper.

At the beach, I just use a regular bathing suit, the swim trunks have the mesh underwear, or a pair if cloth training pants.

I think the whole point of a swim diaper is to contain poop, pee isn't such a big deal. We have used both reusable and disposable for pools and the beach. But at the beach I prefer to just use a swimsuit or let the kid run around naked.

Pool we use reusable swim diapers and a swim suit over it. For the beach, we do a swimsuit only. Once she's done doing her beach thing, we put a diaper on her.

We used swim diapers (disposable) when we went to Mexico in Feb...we just kept him in them while we were on the beach/at the pool, since he was in and out of the water. He had a swim suit on over it, and he didn't poop in them. I'm sure he peed in them, but he was wet anyway from the water, so it wasn't obvious or a big deal :)

We have a reusable swim diaper that we put her in a couple of times last summer at my parent's house. They live on the beach. It wasn't an issue for us because she was only 6-8 months, and we didn't go in the water much. Just spent some time on a towel on the beach...

I think we'll probably do a reusable this summer, but change her to a disposable after being in the water.

We use cloth swim diapers.

When we were in Florida in February and went to the pool we would change her back into a regular diaper when she got out of the pool.

We have a reusable swim diaper. We actually purchased right from our Y. It does the same thing where it really only holds poop not pee.

He only pooped in it once, and he was really little at the time, so I just actually washed it in the sink. He was ebf though so the poop is different than formula. I don't know if that would have made a difference.

I've seen info about diapers for swimming in the pools- disposable swim diapers only hold poop, change immediately before and after swimming. Reusable ones dry quickly.

What about if you go to the beach for a few hours? Obviously this is a long way off since I live in New England and it's April! But I'm just confused how you do it. C will turn a year in july, and dh's grandmother lives near a family beach on a bay so I know we will take her.

Please explain!
Also do people ever do a reusable swim diaper (cloth?) over a disposable? I feel like that's what my nephew had to do at the Y.
