@mewtill: @littlebug FWIW I haven't used either on my own LO yet but plan to use reusable this summer (I've seen lots of disposable malfunctions and they're $$, we use cloth during the day). BUT I can tell you that in my opinion, you'd have to change disposables each time you came out of the pool because they're much soggier. Reusables I think you'd only have to change if LO did poo - they are much thinner and will dry quickly (like a swimsuit). I am buying two to have a back up.

We use disposable diapers and I have two reusable swim diapers because we have a pool in our neighborhood and I plan on going every weekend with her.

@littlebug: this is exactly what I'm wondering! When we're at home, we'll only be doing one swim session any given day, so a reusable should be fine. But when we are visiting the grandparents in AZ, we'll be in and out of the pool multiple times a day. How does it all work?! :)

We have our own pool as well, and honestly, I am seriously debating not using a swim diaper at all. My son's older, he poops like clockwork in the morning, so I might take my chances and just put him in a swimsuit.

We use disposables regularly but because we have a pool it'll just make more sense financially to buy 2 reusable diapers.

@littlebug: regardless of whether it's disposable or reusable, I think you'd change the baby as soon as you get out of the water to cut down on chafing. But I guess then you reuse the reusable until it's poopy that same day? I don't know...i only bought 1 so far, to use in our pool.

I've been tyring to decide what to do about this, too. I"m leaning towards the reuseables, since we cloth on the regular. But with the reusables, what happens if you get out of the pool but then want to get back in? Does baby sit around in a soiled, wet diaper? Or do you change out of it? Do you then reuse the soiled diaper, and get back in the pool with it? Or do you take a couple reusables and change the baby? This just confuses me.

This will be DD's first summer, so I don't have any experience yet, but we plan to do reusable all summer (we also cloth diaper). We're spending a week at the lake, and we practically live on the dock while we're there. I can't even imagine how many disposable swim diapers she'd go through in that week!

I've been debating this too. I think I'm going to go ahead and try out a reusable swim diaper and see how it goes. Doesn't make sense to being spending all that money on disposable swim diapers.

Disposable by day and reusable for swim. The disposables are too expensive and don't work nearly as well for our weekly lessons. We did have rash issues at one point, but showering him right after or at least using a baby wipe before putting the regular diaper on stopped that problem.

We use disposables for day to day but use reusable swim diapers for his weekly swim lessons. The pool he goes to requires that he wears two reusables just in case as they claim disposables don't catch solids that well. So far he's never pooped in the pool, but we've been using the Charlie Banana diapers from Target with no problems.

We go swimming nearly every day so I use a reusable cloth swim nappy as the disposables are nearly $1 per nappy here! We use disposables for our every day diapering needs.

I asked my friend (a cloth diaperer on a regular day) and she said she uses disposable swim diapers. She said nothing grosser than washing out wet poops lol. Idk..my MIL actually put my nephews disposable swim diapers in the sun to dry and reused it fine, hahaha. He never pooped in the pool!

@runsyellowlites: that's what I was thinking. I mean I'll need them at my in laws beach place bc they don't have a waging machine, but since we have a pool it would add up to major bucks! The iplay swim diaper is only $7ish at target.

Do you use a reusable swim diaper or disposable swim diapers?

I use disposables for regular diapering but thought it probably makes sense to have a reusable diaper (or a few) for home so we don't spend a gazillion dollars on swim diapers. But I'm wondering what everyone else does.

What do you use?
