Glad you had fun! We use reusable swim diapers and have heard they are better about holding in floaters. Just thought you might want to check them out for your next visits. :)

I would take her to the pool. As long as she's in swim diapers and you're supervising her, I don't see the problem.

I think community pools are gross in general - and I was on the HS team. Seems like a germ trap for a little baby.

We had my DD in the apartment pool at 3 or 4 months. Of course, it was 110 degrees here. Just use the swim diaper, it's totally fine.

I was a competitive swimmer growing up, and trust me, everyone pees in the pooL!

I worked at a pool for 10 years, and believe me, tons of people (kids and adults!) pee in pools. The function of swim diapers is to keep the poop contained. Also, your co-workers pools probably don't allow babies in the big pool because of safety concerns, not floaters!

Take her swimming and have fun!

@tinyperson: I just checked with my mom and she said the only additional rules she was given was that a resident had to be with guests at all times, and that you can't walk over in just a bathing suit (have to have some sort of cover up). Good thought!

@mediagirl: @Smurfette: lol, glad to hear it isn't just me who can't control herself!

@Mrs. Pen: I just did a random search. Are these the plastic covers?:

Absolutely! Have fun!

If you're concerned - our YMCA rules are three layers: diaper, plastic cover, swim bottoms. Maybe somehow that helps hold at least some urine in? But we don't do three layers at any other pool or beach - just the diaper and swim bottoms.

Yes, take her in the pool! You have a swim diaper on her, that's all she needs. I like to make sure we have a swimsuit over the swim diaper to help double cover in case a poop does happen. But really, I'm sure it's very rare that a child does poop while in the pool. And if she does, you'll know she is pooping so you can remove her.

E has never been swimming, as she's never had the opportunity to. My mother just moved into an apartment minutes from our house, and we're planning on going over tonight armed with swim diapers (I know not to put them on until we get there :)), bathing suit, sunscreen, etc.

I mentioned this to my coworkers and two were amazed that we'd be allowed with an unpotty trained baby in the pool. One commented that their swim club didn't allow babies in the main pool (there's no baby pool here) due to floaters, etc (ew). Am I really that unusual to be going to a pool with her? I read through all the rules they posted and they have nothing specifically about babies (there is a thing about discharging bodily wastes being prohibited? Which obviously she has no control over).

Is there something else I should be doing? I want to make sure I'm not inconveniencing anyone, but it's my understanding that chlorine takes care of a lot and swim diapers take care of the solids. Do floaters (ugh) really happen any more?

Thanks, and sorry for the twenty questions!
