YES. For regular clothes my LO wears 6m from Carter's and they are still a little roomy. I bought her a 9m swim suit meant for a trip in August and it was already tight when we went to the beach last week! I had to go buy a 12m for our trip in August.

@autumnlove: I knoooow. So weird. My 7m old wears 12m and it is *really tight* after getting wet. He has 3 pairs of swimming trunks and 2 rash guards. All different brands....all run extremely small.

I have no idea why little bathing suits are sized so CRAZY! LO is only just about to be 7 months old and is about 75% in height and weight and fits into 12-18 month suits. I'm glad I knew about this before I went and ordered any online because if I had gone by the clothing sizes that fit, her suits would all have had to be exchanged.

We just got DS the rashguard hoodie from Baby Gap in a 4T! He wears 2T and can still fit into some 18-24 mo clothing. We wanted to get a 3T so he could wear it next year too, but the 3T just fit. The sleeves are a little long on the 4T but the rest fits well. It's not supposed to be a tight rashguard but more of a baggy hoodie style so I was surprised it still ran small. We ended up getting him a 3T in swim trunks so he could wear them next year as well. He can still fit into his from last year though so he has plenty of options.

ETA: We held up the 2T and 3T swim trunks and they were almost identical in size. The 3T was just slightly longer, maybe 1/4" but the rest was the same!
