My LO slept in the swing until she got too big for it at 8 months! I just figured I wanted her to sleep, and I didn't care how it happened. I was pretty terrified when we had to switch her over because she didn't fit in the swing anymore, but she ended up napping in her crib great then.

@winniebee: I would honestly not worry about it for awhile yet. Focus on crib at night first, and let him nap in the swing during the day. If he's anything like Baby Y (who was also doing nights in the rock n play and swing for nap time), he'll start to grow out of the napping in the swing by himself around 4 months or so.

I am the same way about naps...I have worked way too hard to get LO to take decent naps that I don't ever want to mess with them!

He's still so little that I would wait until you're ready to nap train or until he grows out of it!

He doesn't fall asleep in your arms? Sienna is a swing napper as well. But I sometimes take her out to put her in the crib or a flat surface. She likes our bed A LOT!

@krsmall: we have my little snugabunny -- mil borrowed a graco from a neighbor for her house and Tyler hated it.

What swing do you use? LO hates our elephant swing by graco.

@mediagirl: I feel like we've created a monster, too, just so I can sleep and get stuff done during the day (though, I tell myself that he needs to sleep and I'm just creating the best environment for him). I need to transition to crib and also stop the swing. I think crib is my first priority........

Mine's the same way with movement. She will fall asleep in the bouncy chair (if we're moving it) or the swing or the car. She will not fall asleep in the pack n play during the day. She will sleep in her bassinet if we turn on the vibrate feature on that. We've created a monster for our own sanity! I don't know what we're going to do when we move her out of the bassinet to her crib and there is no vibration....

That being said, I feel your pain. Leave it to the daycare professionals to nap train him. :) Hahhaa. Horrible. HORRIBLE mom. (slapping my own mouth for saying it) :)

hehe yeah, that swing was so magic. I'd put him laying flat, then into the bouncy chair if he was fussy, and the swing was last resort. But usually for his last nap he'd end up in the swing. Eventually when we nap trained he took every nap in his crib in his room. That was around 4.5 months.

@autumnlove: Ditto. Hmmm perhaps should leave the nap training to other child care providers once I go back to work.....lol

Oh, I miss that swing! That was the only place my LO would nap during my maternity leave....sleeping in her crib or Pack n Play bassinet never worked during the day!

It's official. Baby Tyler is swing dependent for his naps. I can rarely get him to nap anywhere else (besides the car or his stroller or of course someone's arms). I also kind of micromanage his naps. He's swaddled (now he likes one hand peeking out the bottom of his kiddopotomus swaddle). If he wakes up partway through a nap, I stick his paci back in his mouth so he'll fall back asleep. He's 11 weeks Thursday and I think it's time to try to get him to nap elsewhere - we got into this habit because he was a poor napper when he was a newborn. I've been such a chicken because I get stuff done during his naps and he gets bonkers if he doesn't get good naps during the day. If your LO was a swing napper, how did you get him/her to break the habit and nap elsewhere?
