I know it seems dumb (and I may regret it) but the way I see it: it's best to have it in case we need it. We even bought stuff for my moms house. We got the Franco soothing swing and bouncer. And we got the Fischer prover rock n play. Check these things out:) as far as your house goes: try to empty of a closet (were using my husbands office closet) as a place to fold up baby's stuff and store. At 3 months we have still never even tried the swing (it's just sitting in our guest room) because LO has totally been happy with the bouncer and it is portable, so I love it too. Even though it doesn't plug in my friends said they rarely, if ever, had to replace the batteries. It's adjustable in height and folds up pretty small. You could conceivably set it on a kitchen table if you wanted or move it into a bathroom. It doesn't take up as much room as the snugabunny. I'll say we didn't get a swing. We have the Fisher Price Precious Planet Bouncer and it has been worth it's weight in gold. At nearly 5 months we still use it daily (though not as much as when Linus was younger). It works well for naps and doesn't take up a lot of space. Sometimes it's the only place he'll sleep/nap. We did set the swing up in our living room - I feel like kid stuff will always consume your home haha no stopping it :) I don't mind it though. DS basically has napped in it since birth and rarely will nap anywhere else. We got a second Snugabunny swing for the in laws....and ben though we were very anti gear in our living room, that's where it sits.
