DD slept in her crib at nights, but would ONLY sleep in her swing for naps. I kept trying slow transitions but it was always a disaster and I would revert back to the crib.

At 5 months we went cold turkey....it was one day of horrible, full on crying. We just kept doing the routine, rocking her till drowsy, putting her in the crib awake. She would wail for the full 30 minutes. We would pick her up and try again in an hour. She didn't nap that entire day and I was also in tears.

But day 2 something clicked and she went down fine! She has been napping in her crib ever since. I really didn't think it would be that easy since all our previous attempts resulted in her screaming or a 10 minute max nap.

LO slept in the swing for all of her naps until about 4 months. We decided to transition cold turkey, rather than slow wean. It took about 1.5 weeks or so, but now she sleeps exclusively in her crib and sleeps longer than she ever did in the swing.

For her, she always had trouble transitioning between sleep cycles - she would wake up after 40 minutes regardless. The swing helped ease that transition, so it was rough going to the crib. It might be worth trying to stop the swing motion first, and then transition to the crib, just to get rid of any dependency on the motion.

My dd slept in the swing for nights from 3-5.5 months and for naps from birth to 8 months (I know....ridiculous, right?! But I was going to mess with the great sleeps!).

Anyhow, we followed the slow weaning plan on the Troublesome Tots site and it ended up being a breeze!

We moved DD from the swing to the pack n play in our room at about 6 weeks. Then a few weeks later, we made the big switch to the crib. We didn't use the swinging motion for any night sleeping at all, only naps. I would recommend to stop the swinging first so DS isn't dependent on motion. GOOD LUCK!

DS is 7 weeks old and we are ready to move him from sleeping in the swing for naps and night to the crib.

Would you recommend going cold turkey? Or, a more slow wean (stopping the swinging motion for a few days, then moving to the crib)??
