Our little girl is 3 months we bought the FP zen (plugs in vs. batteries) before she was born and use it daily. 2 weeks ago we bought the matching seat, she loves it because it vibrates. I plan on reselling both when she outgrows them, they take lots of space!

I can't find it now, but there is a swing frame that you can use with an infant bucket car seat...I think it's by Graco.

WE had both and baby liked both. And then neither by 6 months. There's actually a Graco swing that's you can lift off the base and use as a bouncer.

Hmm... well, thanks for your input ladies! I really do appreciate it!

I'm hoping to swoop in and grab some stuff on some good Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. I guess the safe bet is to get both and see what happens. We can always pack it away for another baby if she doesn't use it.

I originally just got a swing, but my daughter hated it! As soon as I would get the straps on she would be screaming. So I got a bouncer, and initially she wasn't fond of that either, but now she loves to just hang out and look around. She is starting to like the swing a little more, but still won't last more than 10 minutes. I think every baby is different...my mom always tells me how much I loved the swing as a baby.

I say just get the bouncer for now. My LO hates the swing.. plus, you don't want to get into a habit of him sleeping in the swing anyway. Bouncer is great because it's a seat for the LO... we have a rocker and a bouncer. Rocker in the nursery and bouncer in the living room... it has been very convenient for us and the LO loves it.

I posted on WB, but I would suggest this guy - http://www.target.com/p/Graco-Duo-2-in-1-Swing-and-Bouncer-Sweet-Pea-from-the-Sprout-n-Grow-Collection/-/A-13024141 - I played with it in the store, and it was pretty cool. And very easy to get the swing out to just use bouncer (with a sleeping baby in it) but safely click it in if you wanted to move from bouncer to swing.

So I'm glad we have both. Worth the money for my sanity!

we used the bouncer much more than the swing because it served as a seat for the baby. charlie sat in that sucker every day so whether or not your baby likes the bouncing action, a bouncer can still be used as a seat.

as far as a swing, some babies love them some hate them. they can be lifesavers for some parents when you can't get your baby to sleep. but they are also huge and take up a lot of space. if you can borrow one to see if your LO likes it before you buy one, that's your best bet. we sold ours as soon as charlie outgrew it because it took up way too much space, but he did like the swing.

I would say a swing is a must have and a bounce is a nice to have. Also, a swing is probably better to buy new because some people have issues with the motors running out because they are used so much. A bouncer obviously wouldn't have that problem.

When looking at bouncers, two features that we liked was padding around the sides and easy movement. When they are so little their heads kinda flop to the sides and some dont have great padding around the side bars. Also when they are little its hard for them to kick their legs and get any "bounce" going. The vibrating seat doesn't please our LO at all.

So, DH and I are going to start buying our big baby stuff in the next couple weeks. I was wondering. I have my eye on a cradle swing and it's matching bouncer. Do I actually need both?

I don't want to buy a whole lot of unnecessary stuff but I'm not an experienced mom. Which one was more useful? Should I get both?
