@MrsRcCar: thanks for your reply. I guess my son still sleeps fine in it but he looks so cramped in it. We spend a lot of time at a cabin, so might have to invest in a second pack and play as well. Ugh - children are expensive.

@Suzanne44: My two year old still sleeps just fine in a pack and play. We co sleep with our 10 month old so we don't have to drag a second one. Dh and I sleep separate when we travel out of choice. Sometimes when we travel our toddler co sleeps with someone (usually Dh), but he moves and kids so much that person isn't getting any sleep.

My plan is to keep DS in his crib as long as possible. He has never tried to get out and just loves being in there. We bought the toddler rail so it'll last us longer than just using it as a crib. The other crib I have my eye on is only $200 and also comes with a toddler rail so I'm happy to just use those for awhile until we get the full out "big boy" bed.

We switched LO1 to a toddler bed at 18 months because I didn't want to buy a second crib for LO2 who was born a few months later. The switch was surprisingly easy.

We ended up buying a second crib but then just sold it (LO2 is almost 9 months) because we put LO1 in a big bed. It turned out ok because the crib was used to begin with and we only lost $10 on it.

Thanks for the advice! Looks like I will keep him in his crib and figure something else out for the little lady.

@MrsRcCar: @twoofeverything: What do you guys do for sleeping accommodations when travelling with your toddlers? My girl will need the pack and play. My boy is too big for it anyway. Teach him to sleep on a mat?

I agree with @Mrs. Confetti: get a cheap crib, or like @Mrs. Lion: said, use a pack n play. I bought a crib used for $50 including the mattress that's in excellent condition and much better quality that the ikea one I was planning on getting. Liam is 32 months and still in his crib without ever climbing out. I'm not messing with that until it's necessary!

Our twins needed separate rooms at naptime, but they still sleep in the same room at night, (DD climbed out of her crib at 21 months and wanted to throw a party at naptime, much to the chagrin of her still-crib-contained twin brother!). We ended up buying a third (THIRD!) crib so DS could sleep alone/in peace at nap. $130 bucks and worth every penny. It seemed like such a monumental decision at the time, but I definitely think that kids "tell" you what they need when it comes to sleep. GL!

I say buy a cheap crib. For your sanity. Don't mess with something that isn't broken.

@Suzanne44: N is 26 months old and sleeps in his crib still. His little brother is almost 10 months and is sleeping in a small crib in our room. He has a full size crib in a box in the garage. Once he is sleeping thru the night N and E will be sharing a room. I plan to keep N in a crib as long as possible he shows zero interest in escaping and loves to climb into his crib. Hey if it ain't broke. Lol. :silly:

@Mrs. Lion: Thanks for your reply. I didn't even think of just moving her to a pack and play. That is a good option. I guess I was maybe thinking I might keep him in the crib until he is 18 at this rate!

Could you use a pack and play for one of them as a temporary solution until his sleep is back to normal? I personally wouldn't buy another crib for such a short time unless you anticipate having another baby in the future that will need it while your daughter stays in hers.

I have been putting off switching my 26 month old into a bed. He doesn't try to climb out of the crib and I like him being contained until one of us goes and gets him. My daughter needs the crib very soon. We are moving so I was going to move my boy into a bed now and then my daughter into the crib once we have moved. That way my son could be used to his bed before we move. But now he has decided to skip his afternoon nap almost every other day making me not want to switch him to the bed anymore. What would you do? Leave him in the crib and buy a second one for my daughter? Switch him to a bed and deal with the not napping and potentially getting out of bed during naps how?

ETA: Also, if we do move him to a bed, should I remove the toys from his room so he can't play if he does get out of bed?
