We are going to do the switch now while still in our home for 3 weeks! Hoping this will bring some comfort and sleep training to stay in his bed etc before moving to the temporary apartment. Thanks so much for the feedback!

@cake2017: I don't know how the particular bed is assembled, but I did have issues when we moved with movers stripping out the screws of our crib. We needed to move the crib to a different room when our reno was done, and had to get new screws for it then because they'd essentially ruined them and it couldn't otherwise handle another round of disassembly/assembly. Maybe just bad movers... I'm lazy, but if it were me I might try something like just putting the twin mattress on the floor to avoid additional assembly and disassembly...

@MrsSRS: lol thanks! I think we will set it up for him(our contractor) for a couple of weeks! and then he’s familiar with it at the apartment. We are moving again to our new home and J think he should be good- as we say they are resilient so we shall see!

I'm lazy. I'd switch to a twin mattress on the floor now "here's your new mattress so you can practice, and then when we get to the new house you will have your new big boy bed"

My DD really needs things broken down into stages - so we used the crib mattress on the floor for a bit, then switched to the twin mattress on the floor, then mattress and foundation, and then with the actual bed frame. We did each step for a couple of weeks. If you are worried about putting things together/ taking them apart - you could always do just the mattress for a bit.

@bhbee: @bakingdoodle: Thank you. I was thinking the same. Therefore, we can work on staying in the bed and room since he was jumping out of his crib but it stopped the last two weeks. Another quest- do you think it’s okay to assemble now and then have the movers take it apart in about 2.5 weeks and put it back together in the apartment???? It won’t mess with the quality right? same for the cribs? Maybe thinking too much into this?

I agree. I'd do the switch now so that when you move, he doesn't get new bed + new room. Kids adapt well.

I’d do it now and take down the crib since the movers would probably take it apart anyway. That way he can forget about the crib a little so it doesn’t feel competitive with the baby, and he’ll have something familiar when you move. But honestly kids are resilient and I think anything will work!

Hello!

We are moving twice in 6 months and have baby #3 coming. Trying to see when it will be best to transition 3.5/4 year old to his new twin bed??? Before the move to the apartment or once we get to the apartment? New baby coming in August and he is currently in the crib. what’s best and would be easier for LO? I was thinking to set it up here and have movers move it to apartment and he’s already slept in it or just have it set up day one in Apartment? We are moving again but I think he will be okay because he would have slept in the twin bed... opinions/experiences/advice? Thank you!
