You can also just leave the seat in the car, attached to the base...but it kind of defeats the purpose of the system, YKWIM? The whole idea is that you can move a sleeping infant into the car, house, stroller, etc...it's supposed to be lifechanging, but I didn't find it to be at all, lol. My son never slept in the bucket on the transition from the car to the house!

What I don't understand is when people act like you HAVE to carry the baby around in the infant carseat and say it's too heavy so they need to switch... just stop carrying it, right? I mean you can just take the baby out like you would if you switched, or am I missing something?

Our LO is 6 months old and small (around 15lbs), but I think we might switch soon. I'm so tired of lugging the infant seat around.

We have a britax and she is still using it at 10 months. I would like to keep her in it as long as possible but I'm afraid she might be getting too tall.

I think we switched at 8 months, LO is a big girl so we had to do it pretty early.

We have the graco snug ride 30 and LO is 8 months. She's going to hit the height limit in the next couple of months. She is soooo heavy it in, she weighs about 17 lbs. I can't imagine carrying her at 30lbs

We have a Chicco Keyfit30, LO is 8 months old, and we haven't switched her yet. I'm holding out as long as possible because I have a very small 2-door car, and it's so much easier to get baby in and out of the car in an infant seat than a rear facing convertible seat. We'll probably have to switch soon due to length, but LO is nowhere near 30 pounds. In retrospect, we could have gone with the smaller version of the keyfit infant seat because both work to 30 inches.

We switched at 9 months because of LO's height, she didn't outgrow it by weight until around 2yo.

Switched around 11 months, and he was 17lbs. He would fight going in his car seat every time, and I don't think he was comfortable leaning so far back at that age.

We have the Graco Snugride 35, and it is so heavy. I would recommend a lighter car seat, which will help in the early months when you carry the car seat in and out of the house.

Our 2 year old still only weighs 23 lbs, so we went ahead and switched her at a year. We still have her rear-facing though!

We switched at 10 months (~19 lbs) because we were never carrying my son around in the infant seat after about 5 months (too heavy with baby and seat). For some people staying in the infant seat up to the weight restriction is fine but it was more of an irritation to us and our son. In the car he wanted less of a recline as he got older and wanted to see out the windows, which wasn't able to happen in the infant seat.

How much did your LO weigh when you stopped using the infant seat? I am trying to pick out a carseat and some go all the way to 35 pounds but is it realistic to be using an infant seat for that long? I'd rather have a lighter seat in the beginning if we will switch to a convertible seat fairly soon after.
