I would consider switching. I'm not someone who needs a lot of coddling and hand holding so I'm ok with an OB who gets down to business, but if you are asking medical questions and feel like your OB isn't taking the time to make sure you have the answers you need, that would be a problem for me.

I would switch! I always loved my appointments with my midwife and really felt valued and like she truly cared about us. I would not like going to a large practice and feeling like that.

I totally would. I switched OBs when pregnant with LO2 after my anatomy scan (to be with an OB closer to my home); and plan to with this pregnancy as well. I would just make sure the new OB is ready/willing to accept you as a new pt before making any official changes, requesting health records, etc.

I absolutely would. I think those are legitimate reasons to switch. I'm team midwife all the way and hope that when (if) we have a second, I can deliver with midwives again.

I wanted to switch in my first pregnancy and didn't, I honestly think it's why I ended up with a C-section. Trust your gut. You're paying for a service, if you don't like that service, leave.

I think those are legitimate reasons to switch! I switched at 33 weeks to a midwife group for many of the same reasons. I felt like my appointments with my OB were rushed, my questions brushed over and my birth concerns/views not supported. That was enough for me to switch and I am SO glad I did!

I do not think those are superficial reasons. Could you call the other practice and see if they are ok with it? Also, if you switch practices, are you guaranteed that someone from there will be on call when you are in labor? With my all midwife practice, you don't know high midwife will be there, but it will be one of theirs. (Plus there are back up OBs always there). If you like what you hear when you call the other practice, I would switch. You have so many more appts coming up as it gets nearer the end.

I know this has come up before, but I can't find a recent post (unless I'm just searching for the wrong thing).

I'm not happy with my OB. They seem perfectly competent, and I have no real complaints about them medically, but I feel very much like a number. I drive 15 minutes there, wait for 10-15 to be called back, spend <5 minutes with a nurse (BP and protein check), wait 15-20 minutes for the OB to come in, and she's (well, one of 5 OBs) is there for less than 5 minutes.

I've asked questions (about like medications) and I feel like my questions have been just blown over (basically the answer was "unless it's Tylenol don't risk it, or go ask your PCP")

I wanted to stick with them because they are adjacent to the hospital I want to deliver at, but I really don't feel at ease with any of them I've met so far. I feel like I'm just taking up time in their schedule. But I just learned there's another OB practice a floor below theirs that includes midwives. I had a midwife with my last pregnancy, and I think I was spoiled by them (they knew us, seemed generally interested and excited by our pregnancy, etc).

Would you consider changing for these (mostly superficial, I think?) reasons? I'll be 19 weeks on Thursday.
