Have you tried any new makeup lately? I had this happen to me when I used certain mascaras - my eyelids (actually, usually just one of them...) would get all swollen and red.

I would think it is a stye. Put a hot compress on it off and on all day. That should help it go down by tomorrow. At least that is always my experience with them.

Is it really red? Hot to the touch? You might have blepharitis. Warm compresses will help. It can be pretty painful though.

Could be a stye, I have gotten one on the top of my eyelid before--I think a hot washrag was the best remedy. Although logically it seems like cold might be better...I hope it goes away soon!

@Arden: sometimes in the beginning styes don't hurt... they start to a little later. and yes, they usually only affect the eylids, not eyeballs. well, whatever it is, hope it goes away soon!

@NYCaliMama: Could be, but my eyeball looks totally normal. It's not red or anything. And wouldn't it hurt if it was a stye?

could it be the beginning of a stye? whatever it is, keeping a warm compress on it could help in the long run.

I was just watching TV and realized my eye felt really funny. Almost like it wasn't opening up all the way, just really weird.

So I got up and looked in the mirror, and my eyelid is swollen! Not around my eye, not under my eye, just my eyelid. It's super swollen and I can't open my eye all the way because of it. When I touch it (with my eyes closed), it feels like a marshmallow. It's all squishy.
My eye isn't red, everything else seems normal. It doesn't hurt, and it's only one eye.

Any idea what the heck is going on?
