I'm a year pp and still have the pain. But my rheumatologist told me I have arthritis in my pubic bone, so not sure if that is from being pregnant or what.

Mine got progressively worse in my first pregnancy. I went to a chiropractor and it helped immensely. I only needed to go every 6-8 weeks once I started going.

My second pregnancy it wasn't that bad.

I started having sporadic pain like that around 20 weeks or so. My midwife kind of brushed it off and I was just careful with my movements (keeping my legs together, etc). At 24 weeks, it was quite painful and I couldn't always predict what would make it hurt, so a different midwife suggested chiropractor. It was amazing! If i hadn't gone for the last 3 months of my pregnancy I don't know how I wouldve managed! I felt 100% normal a few days postpartum. (Also I got adjusted the day I went into labor & it was a very easy delivery).

@Silva: I had it really bad last pregnancy and I'm starting to feel it again. It's like a pain in the pelvic bone in front . I don't remember it being gradual last time, I just remember it being really bad. I got to the point where it was hard for me to get in and out of the shower because stepping over the tub was excruciating. I asked my midwife about it last time and she just brushed me off :bummed: . Maybe I'll try a support belt this time. I had one of the huge ones last time and I didn't notice it doing much plus it was uncomfortable.

I had it with my 2nd pregnancy and it did get progressively worse until the last month. I started doing a few things to help ease the pain and I also had the feeling that as I got closer to the end of the pregnancy, it was more tolerable because the end was in sight. ("Only 3 more weeks!" etc.)

I started walking and climbing stairs less, I stopped doing demonstrations at work (Im a PE teacher, so less soccer dribble & pass demonstrations for example), I figured out ways to avoid picking up and carrying my toddler as often as I usually do (climb in and out of her car seat by herself, walk up stairs by herself, diaper changes on the floor etc). I had to sit down while putting on pants/socks/shoes. I couldn't just lift one leg while standing. , When getting up off the floor, I would put both my feet under my butt and stand up with both feet at once (like a reverse squat) instead of stepping up with one foot at a time.

I also would occasionally wear a support belt, which helped somewhat. I did see a chiropractor for one appointment at about 35 weeks, but he kept telling me how my body would change so much over the next 4ish months , so his treatment wouldn't be as helpful because of all of my body changes. I should have started seeing him sooner in the pregnancy. I decided not to go back, unless I am still having issues several months postpartum.

I am currently 2.5 weeks postpartum, and I am way more comfortable again. My pelvis is not 100% back to normal just yet, but I am hoping it will be with time.

@Silva: if you can start seeing a PT that specializes in women's pelvic floor health it could help a lot. Its better to treat it while it's still mild and before you lose very much tone in your pelvic floor. Plus the PT will help make delivery easier and postpartum recovery faster.

@mamabolt: 😕 Makes sense, I guess. It really isn't bad yet- I only notice it during specific movements. If I knew I wasn't going to make it any worse I'd just continue because it's entirely tolerable now...but it sounds like it could become worse.

Mine was so much worse with my last pregnancy, it felt unbearable. The chiropractor helped, but it really didn't resolve until a few months post partum.

@Silva: my chiropractor did mention the incline can be another culprit, not what you want to hear I'm sure but I did stop that too and saw improvement.

@Anagram: thanks so much for posting those- I was totally just looking at one like the first one on amazon.

@mamabolt: i haven't been running this pregnancy (although I did last time)- just walking with incline on the treadmill. I really don't want to have to stop that.

@Silva: yeah, it wasn't uncomfortable at all. I was surprised that the chiro didn't recommend one of those enormous support belts--she gave me one that was very simple and stretchy and showed me where to put it (under clothes and more around my hips) and how tight to make it (not that tight).

So before, in my head, I thought a support belt was like this first picture--but it was actually like the second picture and I could wear it under clothes without it showing.

@KT326: I sleep with a pillow between my legs, and most of the time I don't sit much....but twice a week I have an hour commute and then I sit in my chair all day as a therapist. I can get up between sessions and walk/stand a bit, maybe that will help. I'm already sitting on basically a dining chair during session so that my posture will be better.

@Anagram: there is a local yoga/PT place that specializes in women's health, so if it gets worse I guess I can start going there. Everything just feels....weird this time around. Like unstable/possibly painful at any point. Kind of like I"m not strong enough to keep it all up? Maybe a support belt would help...I will look into it. Was it comfortable?

Mine got worse the farther along I was. I didn't know about pregnancy support belts but I will definitely be getting one for my next pregnancy. I will also be seeing a chiropractor.

My OB also told me to never sit with my legs crossed (impossible anyway the bigger I got!) and to always sleep with a pillow between my knees. I also couldn't sit for too long, sitting made getting up so much worse! I had to make sure I got up at least once an hour and walk around for at least 5 minutes.

I started going to a chiropractor that specializes in women's health and pre/post pregnancy, so that helped some. What also helped a lot is that she told me to wear a pregnancy support belt 24/7 and only take it off when I was showering.

Previously, I thought support belts were just if a woman felt her belly was heavy, but she explained to me that it supported my belly so that my hips/back/groin weren't overworking themselves to try to support, and that it would help me stand up correctly.

All those things helped to keep my issues in check, although it wasn't really resolved until after delivery.

Never had this with my first... pain in my groin and general feeling of pain/instability in my pelvis. Its not that bad right now- and I only notice during certain movements.

Is it going to get worse as pregnancy progresses?

I read a little- one time I feel it is getting out of our sedan, so I'm going to start trying to swing my whole body around before I stand up. I'm having trouble moving around in bed, too, so I need to be more mindful of using both legs to turn myself instead of just one. Any other advice?
