I do remember our pedi saying that sinus infections in infants is almost impossible. Does she have a fever? I would take her in if she has a fever since it shows she's fighting something off. Wagon Jr. is normally a CRAZY eater but during bad colds he will barely tolerate just yogurt for like 3 days straight.

Then again, if I were you I'd probably just take him in anyway :) green and yellow from the nose are never good and you just want to play it safe when they're that young!

@Mrs. Jacks: interesting..I didnt know they didnt have developed sinuses until about a year. Learn something new every day =o) Even with the green and yellow mucous, I still figured it was a cold. It was the presence of blood and her lack of appetite and the sudden waking at night that worried me.

Either way, Ill feel better bringing her in just to be sure its nothing.

So I won't give you any medical advice, but I will say that anatomically babies do not have developed sinuses until about a year.

People often mistake the green mucus as a sign of a sinus infection, but that color is usually caused by infection fighting cells flooding in to fight the cold (or whatever was causing the runny nose). I don't usually call something a sinus infection until there has been a fever for several days in conjunction with the other symptoms in older kids.

Good for you for scheduling an appointment. I hope you get a good answer!

Based on those symptoms I'd say it is likely. Either that or a really nasty cold on its way to being a sinus infection. I hope it clears up soon! Try not to let her rub her face too much while her nose is running (next to impossible, I know). My son had a terrible cold a few months ago and he rubbed so much that he managed to migrate his cold into his eyes and they started secreting mucus too. Putting thick eye drops in a baby's eyes sucks.

Im making a doctor's appointment for Liv for tomorrow. For the past few days, shes been stuffy and had a runny nose (clear) and watery eyes and a very mild cough. I figured it was a cold and was letting it run its course. Just about two days ago, her runny nose started turning green and yellow, and yesterday there were teeny tiny occasional streaks of blood. Shes been sleeping with a humidifier in her room, so I dont think its dry air causing the blood. My first thought was sinus infection, but I dont really know symptoms of a sinus infection in a baby (10 months old) but could it be that you think? Also, her normal voracious appetite is like gone. Shes picking like a bird, and waking up a lot at night. She usually sleeps from 6:30pm to 6:10am.
