@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Stools are a good idea, the adults will probably get more use out of them than the kids.

We have an Ikea bench for our play table, it's big enough for several of us to sit on at once, or gives DS the freedom to kind of scoot around on it while reaching for different things on his table.

@lamariniere: @looch: thanks, sounds like stools are a good choice since they can be moved under the table completely out of the way and comfy for the adult playmates.

We have a few stools around in our playroom, we use them for the adults more than anything, so I like them to be sturdy. My dad, for example, can't get up from the floor once he gets down, so it's better if he sits on a low stool.

We also have ones similar to your second photo, my son often uses them when we "play" board games at the coffee table.

In my experience, most kids seem to prefer standing to sitting at activity tables.

Dipped painted furniture for kids is so fun! You can do it with a regular kiddie chair, but I like the stools better. The painted furniture looks cool, but kids' stools even comfortable?

What keeps a child in their seat better: chair or stool?
Do you notice a difference in your child's posture when they have a backless seat?

The all- natural wood color table & tool set is from Walmart. The legs stick out quite a bit on both the table and stools. Would this get in the way of child and perhaps contribute to knocking things over?
