@loveisstrange: we just took our LO to her first wedding at 32 months. There were lots of kids in attendance, and I think she had an ok time, but it came away feeling that a standard wedding is not really made for kids. LO had a hard time staying in her seat through the toasts bad meal courses. She is usually good at restaurants it is just long, you know?

Once there was dancing she liked that and the cake, and the bouquet toss. If I had to do it again, I am not sure I would bring her if I had a choice.

I voted to take her to the reception, but I think it's totally fine to leave her with your mom. You can never have too many date nights!

I'd take my kid to the reception, just because I think he'd enjoy it and I don't feel like I wouldn't be able to have a good time with him there. But I think you should do whatever would be most enjoyable for you and your husband!

If you have the option to leave her, then do that! You'll have more fun attending the wedding child-free and she'll be fine! But otherwise, I'd bring her to the reception. Despite the drinking, I think you'll all have fun. And you'll probably leave before it gets too bad anyway!

Haha. I have to say my first instinct is to leave her at home. I just feel bad leaving her overnight again after having to leave her just 2 weeks prior. She probably wouldnt care since my mom is her favorite person ever, but I feel bad.

I voted leave her for the ceremony, take her to the reception. If my friends were bringing their kids I would want to take DD so she can see her pals and dance! But if most of my friends were leaving their kids at home, then I would do the same.

I think you would have more fun being able to enjoy it kids free! Without having to chase afer a 2 year old who may be getting antsy through all the formalities that take place. I've found that most the time my LO is ready to go home before the "open" dancing begins, and she gets mad because she's ready to DANCE.

We have 2 weddings in the span of 2 weeks coming up. The first is kid-free, the second we have the option of bringing C with us. She'll be right at 2.5.

The ceremony is at a winery at 1pm. The reception isnt until 6 and its in a totally different place than the ceremony. We'll likely go home between the two because 5 HOURS. Ugh. Who does that?

Anyway, We were sort of considering leaving her with my mom for the ceremony and then picking her up and taking her to the reception with us. She is pretty well-behaved when we go out to eat and doesnt usually get too bad if we keep her up past her bedtime. My friend has lots of younger siblings and cousins, so she would not be the only kid, and I think she would love the dancing and stuff. Other circumstances we know are that kids under 5 are free at their venue, but we are talking an open bar wedding and the crowd will definitely be drinking.

What would you do? I need to RSVP, so we need to decide. lol
