I would bring her. It'll be good for her to spend alone time with your parents. Especially if you have to fly to go home it will likely be the last time she can fly for free too.

@edelweiss: We're not planning on coming home for Christmas, so it'll be a while before we see them again.

@Rubies: Ahhh, i know! I'd be totally fine leaving her with DH for a weekend, but it's different when i have to go see my parents. :(

I think i'm leaning towards bringing her. I think i'd feel too guilty!! My parents may not be very happy...

do you have another trip in the future to see your parents? if it's not too far away (as in, within 2-3 months), i would be inclined to take the trip yourself. at least then your parents still have the next trip to look forward to. it would be different if your parents only had 1 or 2 opportunities to see your LO all year.

LEAVE HER AT HOME with DH!!!!
*YOU* need some time off to see your friends, sleep in, eat whatever you want and potentially see me! :)
It's just for a weekend, right? Your parents/IL have to understand that for only a couple of days, it's too much to be travelling with a toddler. Do it. You will miss DD SOOOOOOO much but when you get back home, you'll feel like a different person. It's SO worth it.

I would leave her...that way you can actually relax, celebrate and enjoy your friends's wedding!

I had to fly home at the beginning of July for a few days for a funeral. I left my LO with my husband and everyone completely understood my decision (slightly different circumstances, I know...).

@Freckles: @Mrs. High Heels: I agree. If it were me, I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself if I was worried about LO. I would feel *much* better leaving LO at home with DH.

I vote leave! Flying alone with a toddler is no fun. And if you leave her behind with DH, you won't have to worry about handling meltdowns. Plus, and most importantly, you deserve a weekend to yourself!

@Mrs. High Heels: I hear you!! I had to do that when i visited my parents last time. I had to ask a coworker to take the lead on a conference call because LO was screaming her head off when my mom tried to take her away from where i was working. I'm sure we could ALL use a break! :)

@Freckles: hahaha, i'm in a place right now where i could REALLY use some time away for myself so even the idea of getting away for day or two sounded HEAVENLY. today, i'm currently trying to work while managing my toddler since she's home sick from her fever. we also had a rough weekend so overall i could just use a break.

I don't think my parents would let me come without my lo. My lo is very shy, even seeing my in-laws once a week she used to not let them hold her. But every time they babysat she was fine, I think it's an out if sight, out of mind thing.

Bring her! She won't become comfortable around them if she never gets to be around them. Yes she will cry when you leave but she will be fine. Have a great time and enjoy yourself!

My parents would be devastated if I came home and didn't bring LO with me. My mom would much rather have crying baby time than no baby time and I'd be willing to bet that LO would warm up to grandma and grandpa pretty well if you just weren't around at all.

I am flying back to my hometown (alone) for a wedding and i now have the dilemma of deciding whether or not i should take LO. She will be 18 months at that time.

If I go, I will have to leave her with my parents from 3:30pm until late into the evening, who she only sees a few times a year. The last visit a few weeks ago was a disaster and she clung to me like white on rice, crying when separated from me.

I feel as if i should bring her since her grandparents don't see her very often. On the other hand, it will be nice to have a weekend to myself.

What would you do bees?
