@MamaBehr: Thanks. Money isn't an issue since it wouldn't be too much more but I have thought about having to adhere to her schedule. I'll talk to DH about it more tonight.

When DH's grandfather was super sick we were going through the same thing, and ultimately we decided to have him go by himself with no LOs. I figured he could grieve and be sad without having to worry about taking care of one of our LOs (we couldn't afford for me to go as well). I figured if he brought one of our kids he would have to adhere to nap schedules, feeding schedules, and possibly have to pretend he wasn't sad just to not upset DD or DS.

This is a super hard decision, and there isn't really a right answer. I'm sorry you have to go through all this on top of losing your aunt.

Also, with all of us going, we'd have to get our dog to my MIL two hours away which would add to the pressure of gettin up there in two days.

I've posted about the situation with my aunt a few times. I need to head to Michigan for the funeral when I find out. The original plan was to probably leave the next day and take a day and a half to get up there with LO and DH. I anticipated the funeral being 3-4 days after she goes.

My mom said they want to do it 2 days later. That would mean that, with our plan, we could easily not make it in time if we have to stop more than expected.

DH had offered to watch LO while I go for a few days. Obviously I could get up there sooner without her. She's just been fussy lately so I don't know how she would handle a few days without me. And I feel like my mom would like seeing her at a time when she's so down.

But with the new information, should I consider leaving her at home again?
