Most definitely! My library has storytime for babies, and I plan on bring my LO very soon.

I used to just wrap him in the moby and he would sleep since I was moving. It was fantastic. Then we would read the books when we got home. I need to start taking him again.

I would take my baby! I think that as long as you know when to take the baby outside, it should be fine to take her anywhere. Worst thing that can happen is she cries and you leave a little earlier than you wanted.

Librarian here! Go! Take your baby. My current library even has a breast feeding room - so yeah, they are baby-friendly.

I say go for it!

It'll be good for you to get some Mom time out of the house, and it's not too likely that some one is going to freak if your baby cries.

People (generally) understand, as long as you aren't chillin' reading while your baby screeches alone in a carseat ;) but if I were at the library, and heard a baby cry and the parent left to sooth them, etc, I wouldn't have a cow!

@Mrsbells: There's no saying that a 2+ year old wouldn't have a tantrum at the library. I think if you can time the visit to a baby's nap that would be great. The baby could nap in the stroller while you're browsing. If not, then try to make your baby has been fed and well rested before you go. There are never any guarantees but if @Lovelife wants to make a quick visit and get some books then I don't see why not.

Definitely go with your baby! A library is a place for kids no matter the age. I would just suggest you plan on going, finding some books and if your lo starts crying, take him/her outside. Once the crying subsides - head back in for your books.

I wouldnt take an infant, I would take a child atleast 2 years old or older. I think infants are prone to crying and the library somewhat a quiet place. Infants wouldnt understand that.

I would definitely go. I have seen a lot of babies at my neighborhood library, too. I would think there would be more kids there during the day since their moms or babysitters would be taking them then.

Here in Brooklyn, there are a kajillion babies at the library every time we go! There's a big children's book section here, which is probably why.

Most libraries are family friendly, so I would definitely go!

Have you ever taken an infant to a library, or seen an infant at a library. I really want to go check out some books but I've never seen a baby in a library. I don't know if it would be best if I just wait until the evening when DH is home or If I should just go with baby in tow.
