I couldn't go there. I waited til we were 10 wks along with this pregnancy to get a little ones then haven't gotten anything else til we were 4 months along. Ttc was long and hard and I couldn't get my hopes up.

LOL at the replies to cray-cray.

And I'm not superstitious or anything, so I'm not too worried about not wanting them around (I've had a "baby box" for years!), my thought process is more for practicality with money ;)

I thought about it but I thought if I did and I ended up having trouble conceiving that it would be hard to see all the that baby stuff. So I have resisted buying anything. I have created private wish lists on both Amazon and Baby's-R-Us. I'm just window shopping! ;)

I say wait to buy but do plenty of research. You will find that the sales are in cycles and you will learn what's a good price for things. If you really want set aside a baby budget that you start saving money in.

it took me a year to get pregnant. I bought 4 stocking for us last Christmas, thinking maybe one day I'll get to use them. One for me, one for SO and out 2 future kids. Unbeknownst to me, I was pregnant when I bought them.LMBO!

That was the only thing I bought though.

My first pregnancy I bought a few things. Then I miscarried. Then I couldn't get pregnant for months while TTC and those things haunted me. I ended up throwing them away during a TTC induced melt down. I am not 4 months along and still haven't bought anything. I got the first gift at Christmas.

1. Read post.
2. Think "yep, you're crazy."
3. Check to see if preferred brand of cloth diapers is on sale.

Yep, you're crazy, and I'm not far behind (but... but... it's normally $900! It's worth checking for a sale!)

I say go for it! I always regret it when I pass up on a good sale.

Early in my pregnancy I did not buy anything baby related in fear of something going wrong. Since I tried my best to avoid most baby related stores, it kept me from knowing about the sales.

I bought a couple of Little Golden Books before I was pregnant because they are really hard to find around here and my husband and I both love them and have fond childhood memories of them. We both wanted a collection for our kids. I also bought a lullaby cd but I use that at work (teacher) so I don't really count that. Since finding out I'm pregnant (7 weeks) I haven't bought anything because I'm paranoid about a miscarriage and don't want a bunch of stuff around in case something happens. And, we're moving in about 3 weeks and I don't want to have to pack and move a bunch of stuff I won't need until August.

I'm too paranoid as well. I bought stuff before TTC, but definitely not during it.

I think it's a personal decision, but I wouldn't do it. I did buy things early on during my first pregnancy and then miscarried. I had a whole box of baby things that I made my husband hide. Yes, we did end up using the stuff, but I feel like I was very lucky and I easily could have still had that box hidden away but always on my mind because you just really never know. Personally,I'd want to wait.

I'm newly pregnant (7 weeks)and afraid to buy anything yet. I know that buying things early won't actually cause a miscarriage, but I still feel like I'd be jinxing myself by doing so.

I know, I know, cray-cray is one of those words. >.<

So DH & I are starting cycle 3, and wondering if we should take advantage of any sales approaching if we see a steal. Ideally, we would have a newborn by next Christmas! I know that it does not always work that way, though, obviously.

I haven't *seen* anything, this is just a purely hypothetically fun question.

Did anyone else take advantage of any huge deals, steals etc that you couldn't pass? Knowing that eventually you'll need it? (I've already started stocking up on cloth diapers!)
