I am not a fan of induction/c-section prior to the due date "just because", but I think that studies like these place unnecessary guilt on moms (like myself) who had induction/c-section due to pregnancy complications. However, I don't ever believe something based on 1 study alone, you never know when the follow up studies will torpedo the original.

I'm not completley against taking babies early, however I think there is a line. I don't think it's right to take a baby a couple weeks early jsut because the mom is uncomfortable, I think they should at least go to 39 weeks, if not their due date. I believe there is a policy at our hospitals now that un-complicated births have to go to 38 weeks (37 for twins) unless there is a medical reason.

I'm with @chopsuey119 on this one. Unless there's a health risk for mom or baby, it seems like babies should "bake" for as long as they can!

... Apparently everything leads to mental illness nowadays. There was a study that suggested that rain causes autism. Psh. Correlation does not equal causation for me.

Edit: Not saying I agree! I am a believer in letting baby come when they feel like it!

I don't know.. But! I am all for leaving a baby in the womb until s/he's ready to come out! And for letting the body go into labor naturally ( unless youre way past your due date).

Did you guys see this new study? http://jezebel.com/5923069/for-a-super+smart-baby-leave-it-in-your-uterus-forever

It's interesting because three of my friends had inductions or C-sections last week because it is SO FREAKING HOT here and they were so miserable :( But that did mean that all their babies were delivered early, some by a couple of weeks.

To play devil's advocate, though, my sister's twins were delivered about a week early, and they, at 6 years old, don't show any signs of academic difficulties. (that's my nearly unbiased opinion :)

Thoughts?
