We just bought VIP day passes to the Firefly festival today - L will be 5 months old. the VIP ticket has access to AC tents and bathrooms, preferred seating and quieter areas so i feel pretty good about it.

@birdofafeather: I wore N to all the concerts, so he counted on my ticket. In fact last night we went to a baseball game and then to a concert he had a great time. :)

@birdofafeather: some do, some don't. Each venue has different rules, so it would be good to read the faq's or call around to see if there is an age requirement.

@lemondrop: @rachiecakes: @MrsRcCar: I was thinking of bringing our LO to a concert coming up but do you have a separate ticket or have to let anyone know beforehand? She's 4.5 months too so I feel like it wouldn't be an issue but no idea how it works.

@MrsL: sorry to thread jack but I would definitely take LO if it was overnight. We can get a babysitter so we may or may not bring her.

My biggest concern would be the volume levels, and potential exposure to anything anyone might be smoking in your vicinity. *augh* And I definitely agree about wearing her and keeping her close!

We took our little guy to a concert around 9 months- it was outdoors and we stayed near the back. We all sat on a blanket on the grass and he napped for a good part of it. Younger would have been easier since he wouldn't be mobile yet, I would have just baby worn him and he would have slept great.

@BananaPancakes: agree, I think at 4 months it is much easier to take babies wherever you go. I wish I had been more flexible and taken advantage of that more! Now at 15 months, it's pretty much impossible to take her anywhere without her wanting to run around and get into everything :T I say go for it.

I say go for it. At 4 months, you can really do whatever you want still. I wish I had realized at that point just how portable babies are. I just attended a Paul McCartney concert on Sunday night and there were a couple babies there. Just babywear her and make sure she's wearing headphones. I'm guessing she'll sleep through the whole thing.

I would say go for it, I took my lo to a concert and even though it was a little inconvenient I would have definitely regretted not going because of her. She actually slept through most of it and it was a rock concert.

We have taken our LO to multiple music festivals and outdoor events with live bands. We have the Junior Peltor earmuffs from amazon, and LO has fallen asleep in his stroller with them on. If you have the headphones, I would be ok. Our LO doesn't do well if we miss his bedtime though.

If you want to take LO to the concert I say go for it! You have the headphones and a quick escape if it's not going well. I suggest wearing her so that she is snuggled and feels safe and she might even just fall asleep while you sway to the tunes.

I have seen lots of parents wearing babies at concerts and my husband and I plan to bring our LO out to them (we have headphones, too!) when we can get to a local show that is non-smoking inside.

I just wanted to add, I wouldn't want to take my 4.5 month old because I don't think it would be that fun for me. I think she may have been fine. Now if I could sit in a cushy dressing room like @rachiecakes: ...

DH works in the music industry (and also with a few hockey teams) and we take DS out to a lot of events.

I usually end up walking around the arena concourse with DS in the Ergo. And I usually leave early while DH stays.
If we're out of town we make sure we're at a hotel that is right next door or less than a block from the venue, so I can duck out early.

I gotta say that I don't often stay past 9pm and a lot of times we're in a cushy dressing room or backstage, so that makes it easy. But if your baby is pretty easy-going and has a flexible schedule I could see it being doable.

ETA: we're all going to see Fun. tomorrow :)

DS has been to two concerts and he is nearly 8 months. We also made sure that he had great ear protection. He did great at both. He napped at both concerts so it was never really an issue for us. N is a very go with the flow kind of kid, I did have an exit plan if it was too much for him though.

(ETA: His first concert was TSO in December and Easton Corbin in April or March. So nothing too loud)

I probably wouldn't take a baby to a concert, but the overnight part is an issue. Do you have to stay overnight? If it were me I would leave baby with MIL and come back the same night. LO may not do things exactly the way she would if I were there, but that's okay.

I would like to hear some opinions from other mom's on taking a 4.5 month old to a country music concert. We received tickets as a gift from my mom (who is also attending along with brother and SIL) to a concert coming up. DH and I are not big fans of leaving baby with someone as she is BF and doesn't always take bottles well. Baby also has difficulty going to sleep at night time and likes to nurse to sleep. The concert is in another city so leaving baby with MIL is also not an option as it would be overnight.

We are considering taking baby with us to the concert. We bought infant noise cancelling headphones and also got a hotel room nearby. I'd like some opinions on taking the baby to the concert, if anyone has done this or not? I am also considering just staying in the hotel with the baby and not going at all, but I think that will be disappointing to my mom who wants all of us to go together. Help!
