@winniebee: Keep nursing for sure and don't dump the liquid gold!

http://kellymom.com/bf/can-i-breastfeed/illness-surgery/mom-illness/

According to KellyMom, you should only stop nursing if you have really bad food poisoning:
"If the food poisoning progresses to septicemia, meaning the bacteria has passed into mom’s bloodstream (mom would most likely be hospitalized)"

I was sick for 10 days a few weeks ago and I continued nursing after I got the OK from my Dr and LO's dr. I drank tons of water, turned my head away to cough, let everything else slide (laundry, etc) and just tried to rest as much as possible.

If you are breastfeeding then don't change anything, just keep nursing! Your antibodies are going to baby more than to you much like they did when you were pregnant. Practice good hygiene. If you have medication prescribed by your doctor, make sure to tell him/her you are breastfeeding so they can prescribe something compatible so you don't have to supplment and/or pump and dump. If you are unsure, consult LactMed. http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT

Oooh good question. I was wondering the same thing - should you pump and dump breastmilk while sick?

Aw I'm sorry you are sick, its not easy to care for the LO when you aren't feeling well. If you are nursing, keep nursing! Thats the best thing you can do. Make sure you are really hydrated too. Wash hands and clean the house if possible

I think I may have an ear infection. I had one last yr and it feels the same as it did then. I have an 8 week old to take care of. I plan on heading to the Dr tomorrow. Until then, is there anything I can do to avoid him from also getting sick? It feels viral if it makes a difference.
