Hmmm, tough decision. I mean the baby could get sick from him anyway but since she's so little and it's flu season I would probably stay away. I tend to be on the overly cautious side though. But it would be a nice treat for your son!

Eh, I had to take DS into daycare with me everyday when I would pick DD up. I think it would be fine if you just leave the baby in the carseat or stroller close to you. You can tell the kiddos not to touch and/or keep baby covered with a blanket. Or just wear her

@littlebug: I would go if you could keep lo in a carseat covered, or worn the whole time. Otherwise I would probably skip. Dd's (3 year old) classmates love to get in LO's face. But when he got sick as a newborn, it was from LO, not from pick up and drop off or anything like that! She got what they had, and she brought it home.

Is there an option to leave the baby at the front office with admin staff? It won't take long to read a book. This is what I did when I had to pick up our older from daycare while on leave.

@petitenoisette: Oh, I know! If I weren't home on maternity leave, I'd be working and unable to go, too. So I totally get why no one else has signed up. That's kind of why I want to sign up, so at least they have SOMEONE coming.

@blackbird: Yeah, we'll start attending a New Mom Support Group this week, too. I did the same with D when he was 3 or 4 weeks old. And we've already been out to Wegman's and Target multiple times. But, you know... toddlers.

I took A to L's holiday party when she was four weeks old. It was the entire preschool, all the siblings, all the parents, and a bunch of grandparents. I had her wrapped the entire time and beyond a couple of my friends coming to peek at her no one bothered her at all. C on the other hand was into everyone and did end up picking up a virus. She was 13 months though so a bit more sturdy.

Can you wear her? I think people are less inclined to bug a baby in a carrier because then they're also all up in your boob area.

I am not an overly cautious parent at all yet I would skip that. I would be happy to do so once the baby had her first vaccines. I feel like especially these days you never know if kids in daycare have all their vaccines and I would just feel really terrible if baby got sick.

I think it's great of you to try to go. I just want to point out that I would imagine most parents are at work so that's why they haven't signed up!!

I would wear him or bring a stroller. I took mine to a weekly BFing class and it's not like I passed him around to everyone--i'm sure the door handles were the germiest things of all, so I washed and used sanitizer. I brought T in to E's school a few times when i was signing her up and paying tuition and everyone did want to look, but nobody tried to touch or grab. They just wanted to see the baby.

That's very young! I've taken DD to her big brother's holiday party, and she was fine, but she was already five months and had most of her shots. It's not likely your little one will catch a bug in the half hour she is there, but I'd still skip it to be on the safe side!

D's class is inviting parents to come in to read a Dr. Seuss story to the class on Wednesday. Hubs says so far no parents have signed up. :bummed: I'm home on maternity leave, so in theory I could go. I'm just not sure if I want to take my 3-week old newborn in and expose her to all those daycare germies. I mean, she's around D every day, and he is all up in her face all the time. It would only be for like 30 minutes, max. I could probably wear her to keep her a little closer and away from little fingers.

I feel bad that his class has no one coming in to read to them! Should I take her in? Or just skip it?
