I swaddled for a long time. My LO is 16 months and has a cold and is teething so she had trouble napping the last 2 days. I got a big old blanket and swaddled her, she slept great.

Oh also I didn't wean until we needed to at 4 months because he kept rolling onto his side in his sleep an it totally freaked me out!

How old is LO? Might she also be hitting the 4m sleep regression? That hit naps hard around here. Ho-ly-cow.

I agree w/ PP re: is weaning from the swaddle really necessary? I tried a bunch but just gave in and kept doing it until one day at 5.5m he was fine without it (tried every couple weeks).

Is weaning from the swaddle really absolutely required? They make bigger ones, if that's your issue. My daughter dropped hers naturally at about 6 months, maybe yours just isn't ready yet?

ugh I remember that week of swaddle weaning. It was rough. Both night sleep and naps were awful, and they just played off each other. His night sleep got better first, so much so in fact that for about a week I swaddled for naps and not for nights. That actually helped ease the transition I think.

That is the worst feeling ever isn't it? The 'will she sleep?" game. My rule is as long as she isn't frantic/crying I will let her fuss until she falls asleep.

Naps have been hard for us since we weaned from the swaddle. I used to swaddle him and he knew it was time for a nap and it would calm him down. His night sleep is actually better post-swaddle (2 weeks) but naps are still difficult, but I think in large part it's my fault because I'm not picking up on his perfect sleep zone for naps, which produces tears at nap time (and short naps...) Just keep trying. That's what I'm doing.

You can do it!!! Mommy knows better than anyone else, so I think you should do what you think is best. Sorry I don't have any tips, but I hope it gets better soon!

:( I've been there, ugh. In those situations I'd just cry and call Wagon Sr. and beg him to come home early. Haha. And then usually I'd stick him in the stroller or car. Hugs..... I know it's the worst :(

I'm having a hell of a time getting C to nap now that we don't swaddle. She fell asleep in the car and slept for like 20 minutes and then when we got home, I fed her and put her down in her crib. She's now been upstairs for a solid 45 minutes fussing and won't go to sleep even though she has to be exhausted. If I leave her upstairs, she'll continue to fuss but might fall asleep. If I bring her downstairs, she will sit down here and be a nightmare and cry. This has been almost a week of this now. Her night sleep has also been crap, waking up 4-5 times a night and not even really wanting or needing to eat. It's not even been a whole week since we started swaddle weaning and I really am at a point where I want to cave. I KNOW it will be better in the long run to stick it out but when I'm sleep deprived and dealing with a fussy, overtired baby... I really just want to swaddle her butt. Give me some support, ladies. I'm having a weak moment.

AND... she fell asleep while I was typing this. *sigh* It only took 50 minutes.
