It won't last forever, but it feels like it will while you're in it. My only suggestions are you get any help you can (neighbors, family, church/friends) to give you a small break, and to be very, very nice to yourself during this period. NO, you do not need a clean house. NO, you do not need to cook a beautiful meal each night. All you need to do at this point is survive it.

Hugs!! Growth spurts are hard but like PP said, at least they don't last too long.

@Bookish: aww! Hugs! Hang in there! They DO end pretty quickly. I actually liked the cluster-feeding but I know it's draining. Let you DH do some daddy time tonight and try to squeeze in a bit of you time! I just took my first bubble bath since IDK when last night and it felt glorious!

@Bookish: I think at that age, they are pretty gassy in general, but I did notice that Xander's gas seemed worse after I had spicy food, even if it was pretty mild. You could try limiting it and see if that seems to help! :)

It won't last I promise!!!! LO also went through this phase where I couldn't put her down or she's scream. Not sure what it was all about but it only lasted a couple of weeks and she cut it out by 9 weeks. Now I can actually put her in her swing and eat a meal. Hang in there!!!! Those early weeks are so tough. Hugs!!

@Adira: oh man, I'm an idiot, I didn't even think of the spicy food...I definitely had spicy enchiladas last night. I wonder if that was it?! Oi. So many things to learn!!

@Bookish: Aren't babies FUN?? :) Don't worry - it DOES get easier. And hopefully you'll be out of this growth spurt soon!

Also, gas is the worst! I had to cut out spicy foods (even MILDLY spicy) because it gave Xander HORRIBLE gas. It sucked. :(

ETA: But it does get better! Xander's 5.5 months and I've been eating spicy foods left and right now and it doesn't bother him anymore!

@Adira: thanks for the hugs. She's also having bad gas, so I think that's one of the reasons she's having trouble sleeping. She's currently napping, as long as I keep rocking the rock n play...

LUCKILY, growth spurts USUALLY don't last very long! Hopefully you're on the tail end of this one and it'll be over soon!!! *hugs* <3

@grizz: I hid in the shower for like 15 mins last night while DH took her. He has to work late tonight and I really hope I can just hand her to him and run out and do an errand, or anything, when he gets home.

I'm consoling myself with ice cream right now while she stares at me from the rock n play that I'm jigging with my foot. I feel judged :p

Oh, honey I promise it won't! I wrote basically the exact same thread when C was 7 weeks. Luckily that growth spurt only lasted about 3 days and it was over. I promise it gets so much better and easier. Hand the baby to your DH when you can and at least go shower by yourself. Hang in there!

LO is almost 7 weeks old and has been going through a growth spurt for a few days now. She is constantly nursing, is taking crap naps (it's almost 2 and she has napped for a total of one hour) and her nighttime sleep went to hell.

I feel like I'm losing my mind. I'm sleep deprived, grumpy, teary, and I would love to have more than 5 mins to eat a meal before she screams at me. I finally understand what people meant when they said they were "touched out." I feel like a milk machine.

Gah. Just tell me this won't last forever.
