Agree with @@erinbaderin:
We really love our vw gti (golf equivalent but more zippy and a hatchback). The trunk is soooooo deceiving. We are currently on vacation and fit so much in that amazing little vehicle. The back seat is totally spacious as well. Great gas mileage. We fit our chicco next fit RF easily
Also: we get 30 mpg+ most of the time

We just had to acquire two cars moving from New York to Maryland. We bought a 2014 Toyota Camry which is their full size sedan. We only have one car seat (RF) now, but it fits the diono radian reasonably. We are happy with it so far! We looked at the Hyundai Sonata and the Honda Accord as well.

I have a Hyundai Sonata and really like it! It is spacious and the trunk is also big. We'll be having 2 carseats in there soon.

Not a sedan but check out the CRV. Gas mileage is in the 28 mpg. After owning my CRV and sitting up higher, not sure if I could ever go back to a sedan. I can get both RF convertible car seats in there. I'm short so there are no issues with me sitting in the front, but my DH being about 5'11, I'm not sure. I just installed the RF convertible. He was fine driving my car with the infant car seats.

I used to drive a Toyota Venza. I loved that car. It's hit a hatchback, though, looks more like a wagon than a sedan.

We have a Hyundai Elantra that we really like. The backseat it pretty spacious for a smaller sedan, and I definitely think you could fit two car seats. The Hyundai Sonata is really nice too, and may fit your needs better since it is larger.

We average about 28-30 mpg in the city in our Elantra, and we have gotten as high as 40 mpg on the highway.

I think this may be a bit bigger than a mid-sized sedan, but I loooove our Chevy Impala! It's soooo roomy inside. My 6'4" husband drives it daily, and there's plenty of height and leg room. Would easily fit 2 car seats (we only have 1 in there now). Ours is old, it's a 2006, but we've owned it for 7 years now, and it has 150k miles on it. It is super reliable, and not horrible on gas. Granted the newer ones I'm sure are much better, but I average 20 mpg I think.

We have a VW Golf Wagon and love it. We have two car seats in it, and it has a giant trunk. Totally recommend.

I do not have a mid-sized sedan, but I do love my Nissan Versa (not the Note, that is junk). It gets great gas mileage and will fit both of our seats in the back (FF behind driver, RF behind passenger). I've heard great things about the Hyundai Sonata though! I drove an Elantra and was not impressed with it, but it's small. I've pretty much loved every Hyundai I've test driven though.

Also, if you want to keep an SUV, I love love LOVE the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. It's zippy, gets decent mileage, and it would fit both of our seats with plenty of room for the driver/passenger, even RF behind the driver (I have long legs and sit pretty far back. We're looking at that or at a minivan.

For the last 5 years I've had a large SUV (GMC Acadia) and well we are moving and I'm going to start commuting so I need something that gets better gas mileage. I will have 2 car seats (one FF the other RF) so I need something that will accommodate them and the front seats comfortably. What do you have and love or what do you hate?

(Note: looking for mid-priced not luxury, that's not in our price range.)
