@Katrocap: Ahh, got it! Maybe beans then? My LO has started liking them too. She's definitely more of a savory kind of girl. She also does well with canned veggies because they are so much softer. I keep trying to offer the fresh veggies we make for dinner, but she eats more with the consistency of the canned.

@googly-eyes: Actually, by "solids" I mean anything that's not BM or formula. He refuses purees, too. I'm trying not to stress about it. I know he'll get there one day ...

@slr: We're a vegetarian family, so I'd rather not give DS meat. Thanks for the suggestion, though. Perhaps I'll focus more on veggies than fruit as you advised.

@anutka: Thanks for sharing your experience. Maybe I'll try to space out nursing sessions, too. DH suggested that as well.

@grizz: @junebugmama: Do you know if @runsyellowlites is checking her wall?

@Katrocap: I'm assuming you're referring to solid solids...not purees, right? Dd didn't really start eating solids until she turned a year (and at 13 months she was at pretty much solids exclusively.) At that age it was purees and puffs. We didn't really have to do anything..just kept offering it. Offered this and that more often as she turned 1 and she caught on and it was no big deal. My advice..don't stress about the transition, just offer things as it's convenient. Your lo will catch on!

From 6 to 10 months, my LO wasn't all that into solids either. She'd would eat only a couple ounces of purees and struggled with any finger foods that weren't REALLY soft and teeny tiny pieces (although she would devour her puffs). It wasn't until 10 months that she really started liking her foods. It was like someone flipped a switch one day and she became a better eater almost overnight.

Have you tried any meats? My LO seems to prefer meats and veggies over fruit. Even the nasty looking meat purees...she'd eat that over a fruit purée any day.

I don't think food clicked for my guy until around 10 months or so. Once it did click he was unstoppable. The thing which he first started really liking (and I think the same for @runsyellowlites; daughter) was a piece of bread cooked in butter (think grilled cheese without cheese), cut into strips, with a little bit of something spread on it. Like mashed blueberries for instance. I think letting him "chew" something even though he had little teeth was enticing for him.

LO was reaaaally slow to start solids. I nursed on demand and she's a snacker, sometimes nursing every 1-2 hours, so she was never really hungry enough to eat much food.
Just before she turned one she got sick and went through a phase of refusing all food. After that passed, I really worked on spacing out the nursing sessions and eventually she started eating more. It's still a work in progress though...
She also hates being in the high chair most days. Sometimes what works best is chasing her around the living room with pieces of fruit :P

DS is 10 months old and doesn't really eat solids. We've tried yogurt, oatmeal, applesauce, banana, avocado, sweet potato, cheese, cheerios, bread and other foods. He is just not interested. When he tries to feed himself he really doesn't put any food in his mouth and makes horrible expressions when food does pass his lips. When we try to feed him he turns his hand and closes his mouth. I know "food before one is just for fun" but DS is almost one!

Has anyone else experienced a late solid starter? Any and all advice will be welcomed!
