Almost 28 weeks and still no stretch marks! I stay very hydrated (I think they say that being hydrated from the inside out and gaining weight steadily are big factors, not to mention genetics) but I also use a ton of lotion but that's because I have veerrrry dry skin! Like, dry to the point where it will crack. And that hurts. But mom never got them and I may not, either!

@Jedeve: To all that matter, you are even more beautiful than you were before.

And there is no comparison (at least in my mind there isn't) between a non-prego and a prego . . . Although I recognized that even before I got pregnant, now having been pregnant, it really does take on a whole new meaning for me.

I didn't get any. Although I used L'Occitaine's Almond Supple Skin Oil twice a day during my second and third tris, I really think I just got lucky. I totally expected to get them too, as I had gotten a few on my hips during puberty.

I agree with @MrsWagon . . . you're either gonna get them or you won't. If you're gonna get 'em, no amount of lotion/oil will save you entirely.

I had stretch marks long before I got pregnant, so I had no delusions that creams were going to lessen the likelyhood of getting more. I the only ones I got that were new were at the very top of my bump under my boobs, and they came along in the 3rd trimester.

I am genetically predisposed to them, plus, I have them on my thighs from when I gained weight in my 20s. I did not get one single stretch mark from my pregnancy. I used Mama Mio Tummy Butter twice a day from like, week 8 on. It was pricey but worth it.
Four other friends of mine, including a gal who had twins, all used it as well, and not a single stretch mark amount us.

@Trailmix: I will definitely be using it for future pregnancies! I really think it worked, it wasn't genetics or anything. My belly got frickin huge the last few weeks and I was baffled every day that I didn't have one! Somehow I made it through and it has to be that stuff! Good luck to you!

Just a tip bc it's expensive- Buy Buy Baby sells it and I would buy it there with the 20% off coupons they mail! That's the cheapest way to get it! I would go through at least 1 $35 bottle every 3-4 weeks!

I used cocoa butter religiously the first time around and ended up with ridiculously horrible stretch mark damage. After I lost the baby weight I went through a period of depression-like frenzy where I did everything to get rid of them-- even loofah-ing my skin with super hot water and using Bio Oil which seemed to help a little. But over time they faded to white (they were angry purple and red). Second time around when my belly grew it didn't look as bad, but again when I lost the baby weight the skin damage was very evident. My skin will never be the same :( From all the research I've done, there's really nothing you can do to prevent them if you are genetically predisposed. You can keep your skin moisturized (hence the cocoa butter or bio oil) to reduce the severity and dryness.

Most people don't get stretch marks until the very end so you probably can wear a bikini.,, unless you're me! I got my first one at 20 weeks. But they were low and hardly noticeable- I would have work a bikini at that point .
I was using a stretch mark oil from earth mama angel baby. I've heard mederma (sp?) is the best...

I got a few on my hips at eight weeks, even though I had lost weight. Then at about 32 weeks a whole bunch of their friends joined the party on my belly. At about 12 weeks I noticed tiny ones on my boobs. I'm 39+ weeks now and am expecting to have some awesome tiger stripes at the end of this.

I used cocoa butter, Earth Mama Angel Baby stretch oil, Bella Bee Tummy Honey Cream, Bio Oil... Nothing helped! At 9 months post partum, they've faded drastically.
