I put the recline and pull the canopy down and put an A&A blanket to cover the rest. Then I walk him till he falls asleep. Sometimes its quick and easy, sometimes it's a pain and takes up to an hour.

When my DS was younger (under a year), I would go for a walk every day during his first nap. I would recline it. Now, he only naps in his stroller if we are out and about during nap time. I usually don't recline it, but that's because I don't think of it.

Worn out and well fed, mine usually just pass out as we walk. My second likes to have a fluffy blanket with him.

My kiddo naps in the stroller all the time! When she's getting fussy, I recline her back and give her a bottle or paci. Though she also falls asleep upright with nothing sometimes too

My 11 month old will fall asleep on my morning jogs. I've walked with her though and she doesn't sleep. So maybe move a bit faster when it's near nap time?

Any opportunity to do a practice run before the trip? Maybe that would be helpful and take some stress out of the whole thing?

These are very helpful responses. I guess I won't know till I try how much luck I'll have getting her to lay down in the stroller. She's not a great car napper anymore, but I will hope for the best! I'm sure she will pass out eventually ;)

I wish we had tried harder to do stroller naps at that age. We did a day trip when LO was about 6 months old and we actually got a cheap hotel room so she could take a nap! Looking back that was kind of silly, but she would cry when she got tired in the stroller and so I thought she wouldn't go to sleep. I think if we had just pushed her around for a while she would have eventually fallen asleep. Tired babies will usually conk out eventually!

We let my son fall asleep sitting up and then recline him because otherwise he struggles, he wants to look around. He's 19 months, though - at 11 months I probably would have reclined him once it was around naptime and let him fall asleep. We also slip a phone in with him playing white noise to block out surrounding sounds.

I let him fall asleep in the upright position then recline him when he's asleep. If I reclined him upfront, he'd get mad and want to sit up.

At that age, we'd recline LO, pull up the shade (and even add a dark, thin blanket if too bright) and walk around. Does your LO fall asleep in the carseat? I think of it as pretty much the same thing :)

At that age I would recline LO, pull the sunshade right forward so it was nice and dark, and push him around til he was asleep. I did have to keep moving til he was asleep but then I could stop. Now at 19 months it's a bit trickier as he gets cross if I recline, so I have to do it gradually as he gets drowsier!

@Pancakes: My kids stroller nap when I push them over bumpy surfaces! Sidewalk cracks,
cobblestones, etc. I recline them after they're asleep.

Good luck!!

We've got a day trip coming up, and DD2 (11 months old tomorrow! Eeep!) won't have anywhere to nap, except in her stroller. Both of our strollers have full recline, but DD1 has never napped in the stroller, so how does this work? If your LO naps in the stroller, do you just push them around and hope they pass out? Then do you recline it or just leave them? Or do you recline it and then hope they'll settle down to nap? I'm sure I'm overthinking this :silly:
