@Mrs. Beemer: Interesting, thanks! He's eating his bottles fine at daycare, but maybe there's something about nursing that's bothering him.

Our baby was sick in March when he was 2 months old. It wasn't RSV, but the doctors treated it the same way. We noticed a pronounced change in his eating during his illness and recovery. He ate much less, spit up much more, and tried to eat small amounts more frequently. It might be worth calling your pediatrician to see if they feel it's related to his recovery. It took our guy a few weeks after the worst bit for his eating to be the same. Also, during this time, he was up much more frequently at night because he wasn't eating as much during each feeding.

Sounds normal to me! Around that time I stopped offering to nurse every time he woke at night and during the day he wanted to go longer stretches between feeds so he filled up instead of snacking. A little but after tht we also got to longer awake periods for longer naps. Hang in there!

Our four month regression wasn't terrible. She woke up twice at night to eat after months of STTN but after two days was back to normal. Then she got a tooth. The tooth was worse than the regression.

It suuuuuuuuuuccccccccckkkkkkkkksssssssssssss.

haha but yea sounds like 4 month hell to me. Don't worry about your supply. M did the boob refusal a few times but the 50 million night wakings make up for it. I hope yours end soon!

@lolabee: @hilsy85: Ok good to know! I did start taking MMP on Monday, and I'd been drinking the tea since I went back to work, but on Tuesday, he had 5 watery BMs at daycare and was super gassy, so I figured out the fenugreek doesn't agree with him. So I dropped all the supplements and maybe will try pumping after a few of his nursing sessions this weekend.

Crazy kids!

This is EXACTLY what we went through. And almost at the exact same time too (I think it started around 15wks for us). LO would barely nurse, was up multiple times a night (he would actually eat well at night so I was hesitant to do anything about all the wakings). His naps were crappy, everything was just bad. Plus, when I did try to nurse him during the day, his latch/unlatch would devolve into scream fests.

Honestly, we just had to wait it out. I was also really nervous about my supply decreasing because it seemed like he was barely eating, and I started drinking mother's milk tea...I would say just keep offering when you can and keep nursing at night (ugh, I know). It got better for us around 20 weeks I think...although his nursing stayed distracted for another few wks after that, it wasn't as bad as it had been.

I'm not much of a help since our LO's are so close in age but, my guy is 15 weeks and basically all the same things are happening...so I am thinking it's gotta be normal!!

The logical part of me feels like what we're going through is all textbook 4-month growth spurt stuff. But the paranoid part of me is afraid that it means either my milk supply is tanking, that it will LEAD to my milk supply tanking, or that something else is wrong with DS.

Since he was about 2.5 months old, he'd sleep for a 5-6 hour stretch at night, then get up once or twice after that to eat. Then he started daycare at 3 months, and he was starting to sleep progressively longer at night, which peaked at 13 weeks with two nights of a 10-hour stretch and then a total sleep-through.

Then he got RSV, and then an intestinal thing. Last week, he started waking up 3 times. Last night, he was up 4 times to eat. One of those times, he wasn't even crying -- it was 5 a.m. and he was in his rock n play just talking and I figured it'd be a good opportunity to get a nursing session in, and he was all smiley and wanted to play. Ha.

Meanwhile, his nursing has become atrocious this week. He'll latch on and pop off several times in a row, latching only for a split second, then when he does stay on, he swallows for a minute or two then either pops off, falls asleep (if it's when we get home), or just sits there with the nipple in his mouth. He doesn't really seem upset, and at least this morning when he popped off, there was milk coming down my boob, so it's not like I hadn't let down.

And his daytime sleep, while never stellar at daycare, is just ridiculous this week as well. 1.5 hours tops, 10-minute naps here and there. Then he screams the entire way home instead of falling asleep in his car seat as usual.

Of course, I'm all in a tizzy because I've noticed a slight decrease in what I've been able to pump at work this week, and I'm thinking either he's all fussy and eating all night because I have no milk (which really doesn't make sense since he's getting his bottles at daycare during the day), or all this crappy nursing is going to tank my supply. So I'm happy to nurse him at night when he wakes, because I know it can only help.

Anyway... enough about me. He's 16 weeks on Saturday. Does this all sound about normal to you? What was your growth spurt/sleep regression like? And what can I do to make this all easier on all of us? Other than, you know, relaxing a bit.
