@StbHisMrs: for the back carry, I started off putting her on my hip and twisting around, but she got the idea really quickly and soon I could put the carrier on, sit on the edge of the bed, and she would walk up to my back and put her hands over my shoulders so I could just pull the back and straps up over her. Total game changer and she started doing it around 18 months. Before that it was much easier to have someone lift her up and get her into position and I pulled up the straps.

I still use mine at almost 19 months and 20lbs.

I've yet to figure out the back carry (I need to do that!) it's starting to get uncomfortable carrying her forward facing. I have it in brown, and I have noticed some fading, but it isn't bad, I've used it through 2 girls.

@regberadaisy: I used it a ton last summer and never felt too hot because of the carrier. I live in the north east and summers can be pretty humid, so we did get sweaty and I planned my shirts carefully but I don't think the carrier was worse than any other carrier.

@HabesBabe: Oooh, super cute! And gender neutral! (This is for our first, a little lady, but always nice to plan ahead just in case.) The tan might actually be great for us since we have a golden retriever in the house and therefore all the dog hairs all the time. Is it in pretty good shape? Message me with your price!

@sweetpea612: Oooh, I'd never heard of the Onya Outback, but that looks cool too! I will keep that in mind for down the road. I think we'll still try the BG because I REALLY want something with a forward-facing option!

I used a BG until my DD was about 10 months old, but then as summer was approaching, I was concerned that it would be too hot for her. I ended up getting an onya outback, which I think has all of the benefits of the BG plus some extras. The onya has a hood, is made out of nylon, and actually converts to a little seat which is super convenient when you're eating out and there isn't a highchair handy (we used it a lot when traveling abroad). I also find it more supportive than the beco and LOVE that it has a little zippered compartment to put my phone/keys when we go for a walk. One caveat - my daughter is on the tall side, and just barely was tall enough for the onya when we began using it at 10 months. But I haven't touched my beco since and don't think I'll be using it again until I have another child.

@snowjewelz: Yeah, I've seen awesome things about the Beco Gemini on HB, so I'm really excited to try it. I love all the options and that it works for lots of different shapes sizes (of carriers AND babes!)...I would also love a Solly wrap, because even with the slightly warmer weather my Boba is getting pretty hot--for me and for DD!

@mfa_lady: I think (from being in babywearing groups on FB), Ergo, Beco, Lilliebaby & Tula are the big names. The Beco was handed down to me so I technically didn't have a choice. But I always thought the Lilliebaby seemsed really bulky, and Tula is just too expensive! So my Beco is an order print which is just plain black w/ these ivory stitchings.

@snowjewelz: You sound like us! DH is almost always the one to use our Ergo, and I usually use my Boba wrap...but I want something more structured for outings. The wrap seems like a pain for outside of the house!

I have one and I like it! It's soft and comfortable, and I liked that the bottom can snap in to be narrow, or let out to be wider depending on how big your baby is. I haven't used the front facing position yet since DD is only 4 mo, but I expect a lot of use out of it! I also just got an Ergo 360 so I'm gonna see how that one is too (tho that's supposed to be DH's haha).

@californiadreams: Awesome! Thanks so much.

@HLK208: So good to hear! Do you think these would help with the drooling? http://www.amazon.com/Beco-Baby-Carrier-Drooling-Pads/dp/B00E0MGCKQ/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1428067777&sr=8-4&keywords=beco+gemini Seems like an absurd price, maybe I could fashion something similar.

@regberadaisy: In my Boba wrap, my LO leans to the side when she's sleeping too and it also maybe my back hurt. I can't speak to the Gemini, but maybe inevitable? Glad you like the BG and that it's easy to use. I can't wait to get one!

@jape14: LOVE that you found it easy to adjust. I hate how hard it is for the Ergo! Hoping this will be better. Although, at this point, I'll probably mostly be the only one using it. haha. But for travel and stuff, it'll be nice to only take one carrier.

We started using our Gemini around 1.5-2 months. For the first few months, DH primarily used it (I had a K'Tan that I used) and loved it! I have started using it more recently and also really like it. It's really, really easy to adjust between different people of different sizes - DH (6' / 160lbs), our nanny (probably like 5'2" / 100lbs), and I (5'7"/120lbs) all use it regularly - and it's really easy to use and adjust solo. My LO loves the front-facing option - we have been using that option since about 4/5 months (he's 7 months now).

@HLK208: oh yeah- c used to suck and chew on the dark brown shoulder straps on mine and they are permanently faded and discolor we there. I put a pair or baby legs over that part to make it easier to wash just that.

I personally love the patterns- we got the brown and orange happy owls and I still think it's so cute.

I'm a baby wearing newbie and have been very happy with the Gemini since LO was a newborn. It's very easy to use solo.

I guess I read on the Beco site that the elastic loop on the shoulder adjuster straps is supposed to be used to roll up the extra straps. It makes so much sense!

For the pros: I notice after a while my lower back starts to ache. Am I wearing her wrong or is it inevitable? She always ends up leaning to the right side when she falls asleep!

It's been such a great carrier and so much more comfortable than ther ergo (and better on my back than the bjorn + better for baby). It's the only carrier I love enough to use daily from day 1 to beyond a year (I've used it with both DD's). I've also bought 3 of them within the past 3 years (the first one was an old model and one of the straps broke so I ordered a new model which had buckle straps on the head piece so it held up...I sold it thinking I would use the ergo with my third baby but I ended up hating the ergo).

I do think it the long straps get dirty easily from dragging on the ground. Also, it can look pretty dingy. It's organic fabric so once it's washed, it looks faded. Both DD's teethed on the straps and my black carriers turned gray in those areas.

I loved it. Was so easy to put on and adjust/share between DH and I - that was probably one of the best advantages over other SS carriers. It being so easily adjustble made it easy to wear him over our winter coats too. I dont use it now because I got a toddler tula but DH still uses it occasionally.

The only con was that the long straps dangled on the ground while putting it on/off. But it was not a big deal in grand scheme of things and definitely not a reason to not get it.

@Foodnerd81: such great feedback, thanks! I think even for the first year it'd be worth it since she's our first LO! Hopefully we can use it for future kiddos, too. I'm interested to see if she'll like the front facing out as much as I expect. She loves to be held that way, so I hope she'll like to be work that way.

I used our Beco gemini from about 4 months to 18 months, mostly front facing in for the first year and change, then we started doing back carries a little after a year. It was super comfortable up until Lo hit about 23 lbs. at that point, a borrowed ergo did for better and was more comfortable.

We rarely did front facing out- my LO just didn't really like it that much and it was more comfortable for me facing in, but I liked having the option. Putting it on was super easy and I liked being able to cross the straps or not. Once I got a handle on getting her on my back, the back carry was very comfortable.

The only downside for me is that LO outgrew it earlier than even the ergo. Her legs were dangling instead of being supported and it didn't come up high enough on her back. So if you really think you will babywearing a long time it might not be the best, but for the first year it was really great.

@brownie: awesome, thank you! We have an Ergo too but my husband mostly uses it--I find it difficult to readjust for my size and put it on alone. Is that super lame? Plus we don't have the 360, so she can't fade out in it. She likes it (and my boba wrap) but always goes to sleep in both. I'd like to wear her and keep her awake sometimes too! :)

We got one for my son. Loved it for a long time but it was out grown really early (i.e. he was 30# at 3 years old). We did successful front (facing in and out) and back carries. I feel the ergo was more comfortable for longer (especially in front carry which we prefer). But we just upgraded to a tula toddler and are saving the gemini for the next baby.

I want to get a Beco Gemini because I've heard good things and I really want something my DD face out in. She likes to be in on the action!

If you've used one, what did you like about it? Anything you didn't like?

Also, I'm trying to decide between a solid color or one of the patterns. Help me pick!
