Ok, so I have bit the bullet and decided to order a Beco Gemini. My main decision factors were that the straps crossed in the back and LO could face outwards if I wanted her to (this was the main decision factor). am going to try wearing her with this and if I have any doubts I'm going to go grab an Ergo from BBrus and test it out. I'll let you all know how I make out! Thanks for the feedback!

I have tons of carriers. I love the sling my mom bought me when I was in the hospital having DS. I also recently got a Moby wrap. I stick to slings and wraps because we are concerned about Hip Dysplasia. DS is almost 3 months and loves the sling!

Ooooh, looks like it's a close running between the Ergo and Beco Gemini. I think I'll order them both from Amazon and give them a test run! You guys are totally convincing me I'm not crazy and that wearing her at Disney would be possible. That being said, I need to start wearing the heck out of this baby now so she's used to it! haha! Thanks!

Love our ergos. Hubby thought babywearing was totally weird at first, but the ergos have him sold. So easy to take on and off with the buckles, and the straps are really nicely padded. We wear them for hours at a time in the ergos. At their current size (17 lbs at 5.5 mo), I don't use a wrap carrier (we have a ktan) outside of the house.

I have an Ergo and really want a Beco Gemini!

I've worn C all around London in my Ergo and it was comfy and wasn't a chore to carry her all day. I'd recommend it!

I also had a Moby and I have a Hotsling and I wouldn't wear either for a really long period of time, personally.

In the early days, I used the Moby. When he got a little older, I started using the Bjorn. He won't face inward - wants to see the world - so the Ergo would never have worked for us.

My MIL just gifted us a Kokopax backpack carrier (I didn't know about this carrier beforehand). I love it. It's light, comfortable, and can carry a baby of up to like 30 lbs, so seems good for long term use. My 7 month old is small (15 lbs) but it was very easy to carry him (and he fell asleep in it, which he never does in other carriers).

http://www.kokopax.com/Home/AllCarriers.aspx

I love, love, love our beco Gemini. I bought a second one just recently. I can back carry, hip carry, face her forward or facing me and she loves it too. They are organic and American made + soft and DD likes the skin to skin contact. It's really functional for different body types. I'd suggest trying it out! It also holds up to 35 pounds so I have even put my 3.5 year old in it!

I have three carriers: Ergo, Babyhawk Mei Tai, and Moby

Moby: Great for the newborn phase but there is so much fabric! It's such a hassle to get on and off. My least favorite of all the carriers but I am keeping it for no. 2 because it was great for the first two months.

Babyhawk Mei Tai: Of the three carriers I own, this is the most light weight. It will fold up nicely and fit in a diaper bag. It's fantastic quality but it does have two long straps that will drag on the ground if you're putting it on outside. For some reason LO doesn't care for this carrier very much. He becomes whiney within 45 mins of being in the Mei Tai.

Ergo: Ah, my holy grail carrier! I love this carrier and so does my husband. It's all that and a bag of chips (I have this one btw http://store.ergobaby.com/Baby_Carriers/Options/BCC001CCPM). I purchase mine on Babysteals for $90 after s/h. I love how easily it snaps into place! I love how there are pockets in the front. If I am using my Ergo I slip my keys, wallet and phone into the front pocket. LO loves being in the Ergo!! LO's weight is evenly distributed across my body and the padded shoulder straps really help. I would've happily paid full price for this item. It's THAT good!

We have an Ergo and LOVE it. I knew I wanted something that was semi-structured and had a pretty hefty upper weight limit. I have a friend who baby wears a lot and she recommended it so we got one.

Check around because you might be able to find a place that has a borrowing program to try out the different carriers. You will also want to start wearing you LO soon so they can get used to being in the carrier.

We took DD to Disney World when she was 18m carried her in it the whole time (used a regular back-pack as our diaper bag so we didn't need a stroller). Aside from not being able to use a stroller in line a lot of the stroller parking is in central area per land which isn't actually convenient to anything. Also, we were able to squeeze onto monorails and boat transport when we wouldn't have fit if we had a stroller (and depending upon when you are there or the type of transport they may make you collapse stroller).

I have the Bjorn and Ergo and love my Ergo much, much more. We only use the Bjorn at home when we need to be hands free b/c it's not usually for a long time. Bjorn is better when baby is smaller but not as comfortable when they are heavier. Both are super easy to put on though.

My LO is 4 weeks old and weighs 10.5 lbs. I've used the Moby wrap (got it used for $20) and like it okay, but it does get uncomfortable after I've worn it for more than an hour. It could be because I don't have baby positioned correctly, I'm not sure. I watched a video to learn how to put it on... it is kind of a pain, but not that bad... I can do it very quickly now. I'll keep using it for now, but I am thinking about getting the Ergo...

We have an Ergo, Boba wrap, and Infantino Swift. At 7 months LO likes to look around so we got the Infantino Swift (only $15!) for DH to use so she can look out. He's walked around with it for an hour or so and didn't have much of a problem but I don't think I could wear it that long. I used the Boba mainly when she was a colicky newborn. I've used it a few times recently but don't think I could do it for long periods because of the stress it puts on the low back. The Ergo is the most comfortable. The straps are nice and padded and the lumbar support is nice. It's probably what we'd use if we were going to Disneyland.

We've used the Ergo, Baby Bjorn, Moby and Pognae.

The Ergo gets rave reviews (especially on HB) but for some reason DH and I found it really uncomfortable. We could never adjust it properly so that the shoulder straps would stay on us (and DH is average-sized and I am small). I ended up selling it.

We loved the baby bjorn before LO started getting super heavy! While it's not the most comfortable, it's super easy to use and LO loved being forward-facing in it. In the summer and fall I took a walk with him in the baby bjorn every single morning.

The Pognae is awesome, it's super comfortable, easy to use, fits us perfectly, comes with a hood, open mesh vent and a zipper pouch on the hip. The only downside is that you can't do forward-facing or hip carries.

If I had to do it all over again I would get a Beco Gemini like others have mentioned!

Go somewhere that you can see them in person! I had a sling which my LO hated.

Through a moms group I looked at a Moby and a few others and got to try on an Ergo. I loved it and LO (although not used to it) liked it. So that is what we went with!

@chrispygal: Nope, this wrap is super easy to figure out; and there are good videos on YouTube as well. Its just one piece of fabric, and basically; you fold it in half (so it's skinnier), put it over your shoulders, pop your LO in so their butt is resting on the padded part of the sling and then just pull the remainder of the fabric up around them and adjust it on your shoulder/back. The videos do a better job showing you :D

We have the Ergo. I've also heard great things about the Beco Gemini as well. For a baby as big as yours (i.e. not a newborn anymore) I would definitely go with something that puts the weight on your hips, so that you don't experience back pain. The Ergo is super easy to use. We got the Ergo sport, and you might want to as well, since it is lighter weight and has fabric that might allow a bit more air circulation. I'm guessing it will be hot when you're in Disney, and it can definitely get warm in any baby carrier.

We use the Bjorn "baby carrier synergy"....DD is 7 months and has been using it since she was 2 months. http://www.babybjorn.com/us/products/baby-carriers/baby-carrier-synergy/baby-carrier-synergy/

My best recommendation is to go into a store where u can try different ones. That's how we figured out what fit baby and our needs.

We chose it because i needed something that was breathable since DD and DH temp runs on the warm side. Also because I'm busty and shorter so i needed something adjustable

We like it because she can face forward or towards me (for naps). U can also adjust how low or high u want to carry baby.

The most we've used it was for 4 straight hrs at a city fair and she was happy in it.

After lots of research, I ended up going with the Beco Gemini, as well. LO's not here yet, but I just received it from Amazon and got it out of the box to play with it. It seems pretty intuitive. I chose that over others because you can use it from newborn on up (without needing to purchase a separate newborn insert), and you can wear it front (face in or out), back, and hip.

ETA: This was also the recommendation in Baby Bargains.

We got the ergo and I LOVE it. I wore LO when she was 5 months all day at the state fair with no issues. I am also busty and chunky, and we are both very comfortable in it. I would recommend it while standing in line, and then the stroller for LO to wiggle more. The ergo is very confining for LO's.

Another Ergo vote! I've worn it for 4+ hours with out any issues.

I've used it in hot weather and yes, it does get warm (but so would any soft carrier where your baby is against you).

The two carriers I prefer are the HAVA sling by SlingEZee (http://www.havasling.com/) and Boba 3G (http://store.bobafamily.com/baby-carrier/). When they are little and snuggly I prefer a sling and I really like the padded rails on the HAVA - not too much, not to little. It is really easy to adjust, wash, etc. I do prefer wearing it only a few hours at a time though. My son started protesting the sling around 5 months though as around that time he was more alert to his surroundings and wanted to see more and I preferred a tummy to tummy carry personally. The Boba 3G can be worn front or back (back only once they reach a certain weight) and I like that it is padded in the right places and very adjustable. My son gets a huge grin when we pull it out. I can put it on by myself (front or back carry once I practiced with it for a bit with a spotter. I can wear it for several hours and not be bothered by it at all and I wear my son still at 22+ months. A video that may be of interest to you is this one (http://dirtydiaperlaundry.com/ergobaby-vs-beco-bbii-vs-boba-series-back-carries/) from Dirty Diaper Laundry. She is illustrating different back carries with three different carriers but it may give you a small flavor for some of the popular carriers that also carry front.

For what you are describing, I would go with the Ergo. Easy and comfortable.

@yoursilverlining: Is the wrap tough to figure out how to use? I'm worried that I won't be able to figure a wrap out. haha. I like the idea though, because I can easily just keep the wrap in her bag and pull it out when I want it.

@Beebug: Thanks! I'll have to check that one out.
