DS2 recently stopped wearing 9-12m and 12-18m pants from H&M, and he is 3 years old. I like H&M for adjustable waist and J.Crew has great tops for skinny kids.

We are in the same boat! 27lbs and 35.5'' tall (17m). Adjustable waist pants are a savior for us! Ruum usually fits DS well.

I am wondering about this as well... LO has a 9month waist and 3t length legs! At least it is summer so she can wear her leggings as capris lol...

My LO is skinny with long legs. She's still getting use out of 3-6 month onesies but she's wearing 12 month footed jammies. She mainly wears Carters because that is what we have for hand-me-downs.

Old Navy leggings fit the best. They're not too tight (like OshKosh/Carter's) and they're great for longer legs. Mine wears the 2T ones and they fit great. The 2T tops are a bit loose on LO and she can still wear 18 month old, maybe 12-18 month old if from Mexx.

We have pretty much had to go the 2 different sizes for separates route since about age 18 months...my son's got short legs, tiny waist but a long torso. He is currently wearing size 4t in shirts and is between size 2T and 3T for pants.

Another vote for Carter's.

DD is in the 90-something percentile for height and 30th for weight.

I have this same problem. She's in 18 month pants and 2T tops. Most of her clothes are hand-me-downs so I just try to get what will fit her. Most of my clothes are Carters.

This might really mess up the clothes I give to DD#2! haha

She wears a lot of Carter's stuff. Lots of other brands seem to be baggy and not the right length. It's hard to shop for her, so I feel your pain.

I'm having this problem as well, she's only 18 pounds but long, the 12 month pants are starting to become too short, but 18 month are way too big. right now we are getting away with Old Navy's, they seem to have a slimmer fit than some, and Carter's leggings because they are slim fitting. Gap is out, way to wide for my little one.

old navy is what fits olive best. she is 22 pounds and 5th percentile and is a little skinny mini. gap is often baggy on her so check out old navy... cheap and cute!

I don't know how girls sizing works, but my LO fits great in Osh Kosh jeans...the adjustable waistband actually looks normal when it is cinched in, as opposed to gap, which just looks weird and bunchy.

I also second old navy girls--their pants fit LO really well also, although they do seem to run a bit short, so not sure that would work for your tall girl!

Have you tried old navy for pants? M is 17.5 lbs and 28" at 6 months and old navy pants seem to be fairly long. Carter's is our favorite though, it always fits her best!

Ugh, DS needs 18 months (or bigger) for length, but even 12 months pants are too big around the waist (he's 80th percentile for height and 15th for weight). And, unfortunately boy's pants don't often come in adjustable waist. :/ right now, I often put 24 month pants on him and then roll them over at the waist. It helps, but I still usually spend half the day pulling his pants up.

DD has also always been tall and skinny for her age, but I think around last winter (she was 2.5 wearing 3T) it started evening out. I still have to buy her skinny jeans and cinch down the adjustable waist, but at least her leggings fit a little better now. Last winter she wore a lot of sweater dresses with thick tights or leggings that fit around the waist but were short in length (they looked like capris, but you couldn't tell when she wore her snow boots).

I'm going to have this issue! Xander's only 7.5 months but I notice that outfits that fit him length-wise tend to be super baggy on him because he's so skinny!

@loveisstrange: I know my niece had the same issue and h&m or Carter's fit best. Do you or anyone you know have a sewing machine? Shortening the waist elastic or adding ruffles to add length isn't too tricky.

Yep, we have that problem as well...given, she's only 3 months :p she fits into 6 month pants length wise by the waistband is always too big. Same with tops...her arms are long enough but the shirts are so wide! Erg. So far Carter's seems to fit her best, but I could use some styling tips as well!

C is 2 different sizes, she generally fits 24m in weight but is 2T for length. (27lbs2oz and 34.25")

Obviously, we've been buying 24m/2T (Carters fits in 24m and is sometimes too long!) She lives in jeggings but the waist is too big and I have to cinch in adjustable waist pants to like the 5th button. Shirts is not too much of an issue. 24m shirts fit fine.

It's really, really annoying.

Anyone else have this issue? What do you do? What are the best brands for pants?
