I also agree with both the suggestions of keeping it tied up at night (braid or pony tail) and using a spray detangler. I have hair that is constantly tangled - by the time I get done with brushing one side the other is tangled again! - and both of those help. I also find that keeping it well conditioned and getting regular trims helps, dry hair tangles more easily in my experience. Also, I tie it up in windy conditions, because that's a mess for me. As a kid, my mom would brush my hair out twice a day, once after shower at night, and again in the morning before school, both of which kept it more manageable. And, I got to watch a show during the evening brushing!

I will also add, that saltwater/beach are really tough on my hair, which may also be contributing to your LO's issues. I always increase conditioner when I'm going to be at the beach, so you may want to try something more on a daily basis.

My daughter has very fine, curly hair that frizzes and tangles constantly. We wash it every two days and use conditioner. After that, we use spray detangler and comb it and that seems to help. I don't brush it at all when it's dry.

I tell LO if she wants long hair, she has to get used to the brushing. And she has. I try my best to be gentle but the other day she said, "Mom, my hair is actually attached to my head, you know!"
The worst is when LO eats something with her fingers and runs it through her hair! It's a sticky mess.....

Sleeping in a braid and detangler. But, also, for us daily hair brushing is part of hygiene like teeth brushing. It just isn't optional. When I was growing up our choice was daily brushing with a good attitude or a chin length bob. It worked well-both options were used.

Sleeping in a braid and using this product have helped the most - sleeping with hair that's not loose has helped the most with LO's tangles.

We wash her hair every night and also use a tiny bit of conditioner. Then we comb her hair and dry it a tiny bit and pull it into a low pony with a scrunchy for bedtime. Every morning we take out her scrunchy and use a spray-in detangler (just the cheap Suave stuff works great and smells the least offensive to me) and brush her hair with the wet brush. We used to just wet her hair with water when she was younger but as her hair got longer and thicker we started using the detangler. It works great. She just stands at the mirror in her bathroom while we do it and we just chat - usually about how she wants to wear her hair that day or what she wants to have for breakfast

My daughter's hair has been growing out, and it's getting these massive tangles unless we brush it every day or maybe even more! She doesn't like brushing though, so it's hard to sit her down for daily brush sessions - unless we zonk her out with some TV/videos.

Does your LO's hair get tangles? Wondering how other parents deal with all the hair brushing!
