DD has had several tantrums this week, laying on the floor, kicking and crying. The other day she was naked on her floor crying for 20 minutes because i suggested using the potty before bath. We left her in her room but watched on the monitor to make sure she was ok.

Totally normal. I honestly still walk away, at least in my LO's case she is doing it for attention, so I leave her in her room and shut the door until she calms down. She stops the fit when she realizes her audience is gone (she might cry but the physical part stops.) As for kicking the door, hiopefully he's too small to do damage? we haven't done that yet so id nt know how I would handle that. She was trying to slam doors and I VERY sternly made it known that is NOT okay and we do not slam doors in our house. My tone must have scared her enough because she hasn't done it since.

How do you handle tantrums complete with full body flailing, kicking, etc?

DS has been exhausted today and we've been having some big tantrums where he throws himself, hits, kicks, etc. I take him to his room but he ends up kicking the door and what not. How do you deal with this type of tantrum? I feel like a complete parenting fail with him today! Please tell me other normal practically 3 year olds have tantrums like this sometimes! :bummed:
