I get groceries at Save On and Sobey's and I see empty shelves far more often there<br /> - Price point: Target is CHEAP! Yes, not as cheap as it is in the US but is anything in Canada?! I don't shop at Walmart or Superstore so I guess maybe those places are cheaper, but compared to anywhere that I do shop, Target is much, much more reasonable.<br /> -Dirty stores: This one blows me away! I loved our Target. I found it clean, organized, staff was always around to help if needed. I have to admit, I also really enjoyed it because it was usually pretty quiet in there.. no long lines, no fighting to get down isles.<br /> Yes, compared to Targets in the US, it was a little more expensive.. but compared to other retailers in Canada ( like Walmart ) I found it to be competitively priced. I know it wasn't as cheap as Target in the US, but I've done comparison shopping and Target was always cheaper or exactly the same as it's competitors. He almost jumped ship to work for Target when they started. It was more pay but he would have lost seniority. They invested a substantial amount into real estate and infrastructure with their entry but they haven't been able to come close to the customer expectations. Their biggest downfall was probably inventory/supply chain related as you often find empty shelves for weeks at a time for basic items. The fact that they haven't been able to make price points attractive is also an issue. </p> <p>The would probably would have been better off entering in a more traditional way by building a couple of new stores in major centres and then expanding.
