(Tattoos are way more socially acceptable than they were in the past decade, and good shops obviously do not have that same risk.) Maybe her doc was reciting old (perceived) dogma?</p> <p>We were also taught that the ink gets swallowed by macrophages and trapped in sub dermal skin layers, which can shift over time. (Which is why tattoos on little old men are sometimes blurry.) When her milk came in and she was engourged, her nipples swelled &amp; they couldn't get the d-rings out. That makes sense since you need pliers anyway. One of the moms mentioned one of the reasons she didn't BF was because she had tattoos. Not in a crunchy, only the absolute best for my baby way but in a doctors forbid it way. </p> <p>I had never heard that (misconception) before. This woman is ill informed on many topics but I had no idea people believed that. </p> <p>For the record, every site I checked says getting a tattoo while BFing is fine. I couldn't even find a reputable site that mentioned just having a tattoo.</p> <p>Have you heard warnings about tattoos and breastfeeding before? Wondering if this is a common belief. </p>
