I'd do one or the other, but I'm in the same boat as @peachykeen: and @Ajsmommy:. We are supposed to bring something predesignated in theme every day. Each teacher has filled out a list, which was emailed to us, of all of their favorite things. We have NINE teachers we were provided lists for. So nine teachers times five gifts equals 45 gifts. 45!!! That's a little ridiculous, right? I appreciate the teachers, but I do not at all appreciate how they've asked us to express said appreciation. Rant over. Sorry. You are a good mom to be considering these things in advance. :)

@MrsGeePerez: I love this. Last year one of my student's families sent me a bouquet to school. It was such a lovely surprise.

@Ajsmommy: I agree with you on the every day of the week thing. It seems excessive. It could be divided up so that your only responsible for one thing on one day.

Oy, this is a point of contention for me.... DD's preschool is doing teacher appreciation week.. like I get it.. teachers are great and are wonderful and we should show them our appreciation but a whole week? and then on top of that they have given out things to do each day of the week.... like Monday bring in a breakfast item, Tuesday bring in one flower per teacher, weds bring in a personalized jar, thurs draw a picture of you and your teacher... as if we aren't busy enough add this in!!! Plus they also have little forms each teacher filled out with their likes and things they enjoy so we can go ahead an buy them additional things on top of the assignments. grrrrrrr I'm sorry it just rubs me the wrong way. I am sure I am in the minority and i'll probably get blasted for my opinion but ...... here it is anyway.

To answer the poll question: I would probably do something small for teacher appreciation day and then a bigger card/gift card for the end of the year

So my daughters' preschool/daycare does 2 teacher appreciation WEEKS which I am not a fan of. I give something small (a handwritten note card and donuts, muffins, or cookie bars) on one day during the appreciation weeks and do something a little bigger for Christmas & end of school year. This is DD1's first year at the elementary school, so I will probably keep hers smaller starting this year since she spends fewer hours there than she ever has at daycare/private pre-K.

For the daycare teachers, I usually give a $5-10 gift card and something small to go with it or Christmas/end of year. One year I gave succulents, another tote bags, etc. But really the main gift is the small gift card.

@PinkElephant: I think this is probably what I’ll do. I wish our teachers had wish lists! I just default to target.

I’m helping organize a group gift for TA week and end-of-year for my daughter’s K class.

For my son’s pk classes (he has 2) I think I’m just going to send a fruit basket addressed to all his teachers for teacher appreciation week and skip the end of year. Unless someone else organizes in which case I would contribute.

I consider them mutually exclusive events, but that might be because this year I was responsible for planning our school's Teacher Appreciation Week and I'm not a class parent (who generally collect for end-of-year gifts). :) :)

If something weren't organized by the school, I'd likely send a nice note/drawing from my child in with a small physical gift (plant, something from her class wish list) for Teacher Appreciation Week, and a gift card for end-of-year.

@LadyDi: If it were me, I would just do a gift on the Teacher Appreciation day. It'll be a festive time, and fun to give a gift then.

I will do both, but prob smaller amount on teacher appreciation day. I always just do a card+giftcard. But our end of school isn't till June so it makes more sense.

I would do something small on teacher appreciation day - maybe, like, a $5 Starbucks gift card or a little plant - and then a bigger thing for the last day.

My DD's last day of preschool is the 21st. For Teacher Appreciation Day I am having DD make cards for her three teachers and we will bring in cookies (or a similar treat). Then we will do target gift cards for them at the end of the school year.

I’m planning to do a small teacher appreciation gift and a larger end of year gift.

For my younger daughters school I’m the class mom and will prob get something like a potted plant for teacher appreciation, from the class, then we are all chipping in for a gift card at the end of the yeAr. For the older one there isn’t a class mom, but my daughter is definitely one of the most challenging kids in the class, so I’ll do the same for her teacher.

Teacher appreciation day is May 7th and DS's last day of preschool is May 17th. Would you give a gift/do something for the teachers on both days, just one, or neither? His last school had a parent group that would organize a group gift, but it doesn't look like that's happening at this school.
