Eeek, so many things to do tonight! I am really looking forward to this year. I made a jump from teaching 5th grade to 8th grade SS so that I can specialize in my favorite content. About 80% of my current students were my former students back in 5th grade (back when it was departmentalized.) </p> <p>We also have a new principal, who is very experienced at turning around schools, which we need desperately in terms of academics, organization, and culture.</p> <p>No kids yet, but due in Jan and taking 12 weeks. How are you feeling about things?</p> <p>Our school year starts tomorrow with a week of professional development and meetings. I'm already feeling the Sunday blues! Also, my daughter will start a daycare for the first time and I'm anxious about it. When I returned to work in the spring, she went to a babysitter's home and was very well loved as the only child. I know she'll get to that same spot with the small in-home daycare, but it's going to be an adjustment for us both.</p> <p>I am excited about my assignment this year: I teach K-5 ESOL and will be working in three different schools for 60% of the work week. I think I can set things up to work Tuesday-Thursday, but it's a big puzzle that takes some tinkering! </p>
